Brad Kuhn & Robby Flock to Pilot Mike Sala Rockets At Placerville
By Gary Costa
Oakdale, CA (August 5, 2009) – Oakdale, CA's Mike Sala will be bringing two Midgets to race with the BCRA sanctioned event on the Placerville high banks this Saturday night. The race is dubbed "Totally Wingless", which will feature the racy Midgets. Avon, Indiana's Brad Kuhn will pilot the No. 79 while Murrieta, California veteran Robby Flock will wheel the No. 19. Bud Kaeding charged to a second place finish at Placerville during the team's last visit there on May 30.
"I love racing at Placerville. The Midgets get around there really good, and it's just a real fun place to race at," dedicated and longtime car owner, Mike Sala said. "I hope that we put on a good show for the fans. We have been pretty successful at Placerville – and I hope our success continues there this Saturday."
Kuhn has been on fire in the Midwest winning Midget races along the way in many different clubs. The talented Kuhn is currently the 2009 Mopar National Midget Championship points' leader over a bevy of heavy hitters. "BK" is coming off a strong third place finish at the Belleville Midget Nationals held in Belleville, Kansas. Not one to rest on his laurels, Kuhn then traveled to Wisconsin the following day and captured the 25-lap Badger Midget Series feature at Angell Park Speedway.
Flock has taken a brief hiatus from racing, but is ready and excited to get back behind the wheel again of one of Sala's potent mounts. Flock has amassed over 70 Midget victories in his storied career. Ironically enough, Flock's last victory came at Placerville Speedway April 12, 2008 in a dominating performance. Flock and Sala joined forces in '03 and have been a force to reckon with every time that they hit the track.
Kaeding Performance Manager and crew chief Brian Matherly will make-up the final piece of the puzzle. Matherly is coming off of wrenching 13-time King of California Champion Brent Kaeding to a second place finish in GLR Investments Winged Sprint Car competition at Ocean Speedway last Friday. Sala and Matherly co-own the wicked-fast No. 19 Winged Sprint Car that competes in 360 competition. The experienced Matherly knows what it takes to reach victory lane, as he has won in Winged, Non-Winged, and Midget competition.
Mike Sala Racing would like to thank the following sponsors that help keep the MSR racecars on the track: Kaeding Performance, Bob Wirth Racing Engines, Paul Oil, M&M Powder Coaters, Weldway Construction, Weldway, Inc., Maxwell Industries and YAK Graphics.
