to be concluded later - please put your Week 18 picks here in this thread. We had 33 of 40 last week. 7 missed. If any of those 7 would like to no longer be in this league - please let me know ASAP so as to alter the schedule or find replacements. That aside - in one way or another I'd like to get 40 picks this week.

Airflow Assassins Its about time I got you. You gave me a spanking the last time. Still a slim chance of catching you but its one win closer. Cody if someone drops out let me know I will take another team or two, Thanks.

Hey, Jimmy and DanFan, Gary won't be here this Friday night. He's off to Tennessee to get married. Bad scheduling, huh, as the Champs are off NEXT Friday.
Way to go, btw, Jimmy - taking the Dominator down a notch last week. That was an impressive show of Domination! ha!

ok this is an important update pertaining to our League. My apologies - as it will be slightly lengthy.
Next week is the last week of the divisional play. AFTER next week - everyone will have played their division opponents twice. If all goes well with weather - that will leave 2 open weeks. Now - the idea throughout the season was to set interleague matchups by random draw for those 2 weeks. But I am apprehensive to do this because more and more people are missing weeks.
I want to be careful in this post not to villainize those who have missed a week/weeks. This is a free fantasy league - I understand for some it's not all that important. I truly understand. It's not the biggest deal in the world. At the same time, it's very clear that the success of this league completely hinges on universal participation every week. By success I mean at its most competitive. I can look at the standings and see it very clearly. Sure this year has been fun, but it could have and still could be better.
For me the negative is not the impact on standings - that is unfortunate, but the worst part is that folks who do take this seriously - end up with no opponent for the night. And it does take the fun out of it. There are several in 9th-10th place in their divisions - and yet they still play - not because they are shooting for 1st - but more because they are goin' for the win that night - and have fun keepin track of their pick, and opponents pick.
If 35 of 40 teams play - that doesn't sound that bad, right? but it is. Because it may just be 5 teams that didn't pick - but that results in 5 BROKEN matchups - out of 20. Thats 25% of the weeks matchups - completely broken. This season has really proven to me that I would rather have 20 teams that picked every week - than to have 40 with teams missing multiple weeks.
It is crucial that we get better participation of the interleague weeks, and championship weekend/Shootout. A lack of participation could hurt all 3 immensely. Now that said, I don't have anything against those who have missed/been missing weeks. But I do need teams to either play - or let me know of their intent not to - so I can either tweak the schedule or replace them. It's not some bad thing. I would hope they would still want to play next year (with an intent to play every week). But just as it will be important next year - it's very important now too. I am very tired of those who have taken this league seriously being consistently let down. Thats what I am shooting for - making this League as good as it can be for the remainder of the year. So please everyone read this and be considerate of others - and either play or post/e mail me your intent not to.
Lastly, we will be doing The Shootout again this year. It is a exhibition tournament that is played over Championship Weekend (labor day weekend) and Winter Nationals. It is the only fantasy happening going on during Winter Nationals - as the 2009 SFS Fantasy League concludes Championship Weekend. The Shootout is also scored differently than this - it is done by group - not head to head. ANYONE can play in The Shootout - it's not exclusive to the 40 in this league - but ANYONE. I will begin a thread sometime in the next week or 2 so that teams can enter into it. Whereas anyone can play - they do have to enter The Shootout. That thread will also provide further details of the The Shootout. I'll open that thread in the next 2 weeks.

Cody this is just a idea to get all the picks in every week. If you don't like it thats cool it's just a idea. Ok here I go and hope it makes sense how I try to explain it. Change the pick entry time from 7 to 6 and have someone you know from each division that loves playing this and plays every week. Then say there are picks missing from division 1 have a Representative from division 3 make the missing picks and the Representative from division 1 make the picks for division 3 and have a Representative from the opposite other two divisions do the same. It could be cool so that Representative may get that person a win or not but at-least they wont loose 75 points or so just in case there was a problem that they could not make there picks for some reason and all the picks would be in. I hope you get what I'm trying to say and like I said its just a idea, because like you said it is more fun when all the picks are in. I am in no way trying to tell you what to do just trying to help, Thank for all the fun this season, time, and everything you have done for us to have a little more fun.
