I found this on the Southwest Missouri Racing Forum thought you viewers would be interested.
"I would like to ask for all of your help. I do not know how many of you know my brother, Rick England, but he was in a terrible accident July 26th at Hutchinson Speedway. He was driving #99 at the time. He usually drives #12c. He sustained some major head injuries. He just got out of the Rehab Center and he is learning to walk & talk again. He is alive & that in itself is a miracle. A Guardian angel was surely riding with him that night. However, his medical bills are mounting. We have started a medical fund in his name for donations to try & help them. Can you pass the word around that donations can be made at Rick England Medical Fund, C/O Bank of the West, 757 N. West Street Wichita, KS 67203. I would appreciate any help you could give us.
I don't know enough about sprint cars to understand what could have went wrong, but here is what it looked like to me.
They were pretty much all around the bottom on hotlaps, and the track was already good enough that it sounded like everybody was flat footing it around. Rick entered turn 3 and the car just looked like something went bad wrong on the RF. His car just seemed to turn hard right, to the point that it looked like he slapped the wall with the left side of the chassis hard. It came apart so hard that I couldnt tell if it was flipping also, but the car went up pretty high, and then landed hard on its side. I don't know if the throttle sticking was the reason the car went into the wall, but it was hung wide open, and the car starting doing donuts on its side, and then it flipped back over on its wheels. With both rear tires flat, it sat there and ran wide open spinning the wheels inside the tires. The safety guys were there immediatly, and I don't know how they got it shut off, but they went right up to it and got it shut off. They called in another fire truck and ambulance, and then cleared an area to land the helicopter. C Ray's fire and rescue guys were there immediatly, and I think the fairgrounds also have their own safety guys as as well, as some of them did not look familiar.
I am glad that Rick has started therapy. Alot of prayers that afternoon for him and his family. It was one of the hardest hits ive ever seen personally.
Jim"
