Brett Miller looks for good run at Care Free Pools Night this Friday at Silver Dollar Speedway

By Gary Thomas

Chico, CA – July 15, 2009…With Care Free Pools Night coming up this Friday at Silver Dollar Speedway Chico's Brett Miller will be looking to move up the standings and duplicate his performance from last season's event where he claimed victory in the 25 lap feature.

The win on Care Free Pools Night last season marked Miller's third career 410 sprint car victory and was the last time he was able to compete during the '08 season, due to attending the California Regional Fire Academy shortly after the August event. "It was awesome to be able to win on our sponsor night last year and it would be great if we could come back and do it again on Friday," Miller said.

Going into Friday night Miller sits seventh in the Feather Falls Casino 410 standings, but is just 13 points out of the top five. "We've been really fast all season long, but a couple of tough breaks here and there have put us further down the points than we would have wanted," commented Miller, who will also celebrate his 20th birthday next Tuesday. "Brian Cannon and the team have given me some great cars and hopefully we'll get a nice track on Friday and can get a win real soon."

Prior to the evening of racing the Care Free Pools No. 1x sprinter will be on display during the Thursday night Farmers Market in Downtown Chico in front of the Old Town Root Beer Company located at 126 W. 2nd St. Chico, CA 95928. Following the races on Friday night the No. 1x trailer will also have free root beer courtesy Old Town Root Beer so please stop by to say hi, hang out and get some root beer.

The front gate for Care Free Pools Night at the Silver Dollar Speedway will open at 6pm on Friday with qualifying scheduled for 7 and racing at 7:30. Adult tickets will cost $12, juniors $10 and kids $5.

The Heat Is On

by Troy Hennig, Silver Dollar Speedway Media Relations

CHICO, CA (7-14-09) - As the weather heats up in Chico so does the racing at the ASA Sanctioned Silver Dollar Speedway. This Friday night, July 17, point race number 14 during the Feather Falls Casino championship series continues with three divisions. The night is sponsored by Care Free Pools of Chico and they will help offer $2,000 to win for the 410 sprint car series.

Adding to the night is the annual Dash For Tools in the wingless sprint division. Locally owned Skyway Tools is offering the tools to be given away during the wingless dash while pumping in extra cash into the main events top finishers. Also racing during this night is the street stocks.

Friday night's racing is set to begin at 7 pm. Sprint car qualifying will be the first agenda of the night. Front grandstand gate will open at 6 pm. Pit gate opens at 4 pm. Adult general admission into the main grandstand is $12.00. Juniors and seniors are $10.00 with children $5.00. After the racing action fans are invited to meet and greet their favorite drivers in the pit area.

Care Free Pools driver Brett Miller is in the midst of his fourth year behind the wheel of a sprint car. He currently sits seventh in the standings. He is only 13-points out of the top five. His family has been very instrumental in his career and also helping the speedway. His mother, Beth, sings the National Anthem before the races. Bill and Jeanne Bell are die-hard spectators at the speedway.

This Thursday night they will be taking the 1x sprint car to downtown Chico and it will be parked in front of Old Town Rootbeer Co., located at 126 W, 2nd Street, during the Thursday Night Farmer's Market. Brett will be available for autographs from 7:30 until 8:30. Old Town Rootbeer Co. will also be providing free root beer at the 1x trailer after the races on Friday night.

Care Free Pools is a local, family-owned business, which includes new pool construction, as well as complete remodeling of existing pools and a swimming pool cleaning and repair service. They specialize in custom waterfalls, and invite everyone to visit our website at
http://www.carefreepools-chico.net. Grandpa Bill and driver Brett Miller are both still actively involved in supporting the Butte Humane Society. They donate a portion of all their winnings, as well as t-shirt and hat sales.

Wingless point leader Jimmy Pettit has been instrumental in bringing Skyway Tools to the Silver Dollar Speedway. Not only is his car sponsored by the locally owned business but also Pettit masterminded the Dash For Tools. It will feature six cars going six laps in an all out dash for tools. Skyway Tools will have representatives from Makita and SK tools in the pit area. Extra money will be awarder for top finishers in the 20-lap main event. Skyway Tools is located 2499 Bruce Road and has been locally owned by Doug Gillis since 1986.

Heather Bartlett takes a 19-point lead over Richard Workman into this Friday night's race. Season long point leader Phil Marino was unable to start the main event the previous race and has fallen 29-points off the pace.

It should be about 104 on Thursday afternoon. A cold root beer would hit the spot.

I just have to say, if you haven't been to the Old Town Rootbeer Company when you're in Chico, you really should make it a point. HUGE selection of rootbeer and sodas that you can drink at the bar, or mix and match to take home. Sandwiches, hot dogs, etc. Great place to grab lunch on race day.
