Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup XVIII Countdown โ€“ One Week

Silver Cup caps Action Packed Week of 410 Sprint Action

Sarver, PA (July 14, 2009) The biggest single-day event on the World of Outlaws schedule, the Cleveland Brothers CAT Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup XVIII at Lernerville Speedway, is now just one week away! Between now and next Tuesday, fans of 410 sprint car racing have a veritable plethora are appetizers to whet their pallets for the Silver Cup Twin 30s on Tuesday July 21.

Tomorrow, Wednesday July 15, the World of Outlaws roll into Limaland Motorsports Park for the Brad Doty Classic before making their way to Tony Stewart's Eldora Speedway for the King's Royal weekend. Locally, 410 sprints will see action at Lernerville Speedway Friday Night, Mercer Raceway Park Saturday Night, then cap the weekend at H&H Motorsports Tri-City Speedway for a $5,000-to-win Shootout with the O'Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions.

All of this 410 excitement is leading up to the rejuvenated Silver Cup at Lernerville Speedway on Tuesday July 21. Already a well established event and, (as mentioned above), the highest paying single-day event of the WoO tour, the Silver Cup will take on new life this year with a dynamic new twist, Twin 30-lap Features; each paying $15,000 to win!

The new "Twin 30s" format should provide some of the most exciting racing the Action Track has ever seen! The large majority of the Silver Cup will feature the standard World of Outlaws qualifying procedures complete with time trials, heats, B-Mains and Crane Cams Dash, all leading up to the 30-lap A-Main. But that's where the show will take a new and thrilling detour!

After the first 30-lap feature has been checkered, the field will be reshuffled with all lead lap cars being inverted. The invert will put the fastest cars towards the back of the starting grid for the second feature. It will also give those who caught a bad break or missed the setup for the first feature a second chance for Silver Cup glory! Glory that, up until now, has only been celebrated by eight individuals; Sammy Swindell (1992, 2000, 2004), Jeff Swindell (1993), Steve Kinser (1994, 2008), Stevie Smith (1995), Mark Kinser (1996-1999, 2001), Ed Lynch Jr. (2002), Tim Shaffer (2005) and Donny Schatz (2006, 2007).

On the World of Outlaws tour in 2009, Three-Time and Defending Outlaws Champion Donny Schatz leads the points and is the most recent winner (Cedar Lake Speedway); his ninth win on tour in 2009. Joey Saldana leads the series in wins with a dozen, (most recently last Wednesday at 34 Raceway), and is second in points, trailing Schatz by just by just 15 points. Jason Meyers is third in points, (just 79 behind Schatz), and has checkered four features on tour. Defending Silver Cup Champion Steve Kinser sits fourth in points with just one WoO win this season. Rounding out the top five is "The Dude" Danny Lasoski, winner of last Friday Night's WoO show at Charter Raceway Park, his fourth WoO win of 2009.

Locally, it has been the "Apollo Rocket Show" at Lernerville Speedway this season as Ed Lynch Jr. has been pursuing the Century Mark in feature wins. He accomplished this feat on Friday July 3 as he checkered his 100th career Lernerville feature win. But in his eyes, the mark is not achieved until he wins his 100th career Commercial Truck & Trailer DIRTcar Sprint feature; as he has one feature win in a Modified. That 100th win could very likely come during the Silver Cup, on the biggest stage of all; The Greatest Show on Dirt!

The All Star Circuit of Champions 2009 season has also had a local feel as former Track Champions Tim Shaffer and Dale Blaney sit atop the point standings. 2005 Silver Cup Champion Tim Shaffer has five All Star wins this season including the June 5 All Star Show at Lernerville. Meanwhile, Defending All Star Champion Dale Blaney has two series wins, most recently at Eldora on May 30.

Any of these eight drivers could walk away with $15,000 or even $30,000 on Tuesday Night July 21 and be crowned the Silver Cup Champion!

As if the $15,000-to-win Twin 30-lap Features were not exciting enough, the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup Champion will receive a $500 gun courtesy of Jake's Carts; the golf cart industry's leading Manufacturer of Golf Cart Accessories and Golf Cart Lift Kits. Visit their website www.JakesCarts.com for your entire golf cart accessory and service needs.

Reserved seat tickets are $32 for adults, $29 for seniors and $27 for students 11-17. Subtract $3 for general admission, except for children 10 & under who are admitted FREE for general admission. Pit passes are $35 for DIRTcar members and $40 for non-members.
