After early season struggles that saw them fall below 20th in points after missing the main event in round 2 of the GLR 360 series at Watsonville California's Ocean Speedway, Jason Newton and Newton Motorsports out of San Jose Ca have put together a points run that has elevated the 3rd year team into the top ten in GLR points after round 6. While not one of the high powered competitors in the series, the team has found it's stride of late and has consistently placed well enough to find itself sitting in 10th place, 75 points behind the leaders going into the next event, July 17th , that will pit the GLR series racers against the traveling California Civil War Series. This will be a combination show with valuable GLR points up for grabs for GLR series members as well as Civil War Series points. Thanks to everyone , including fellow competitors, who have helped the team advance over the past few events. The next few events will be important as the team will not only be looking to hold onto their top 10 points position, they will also be looking for the finish in the next 3 GLR races that will qualify them for the Johnny Key Classic. That event will be run Aug 29th at Ocean Speedway and is the premier event of the season
The Newton Motorsports team uses Maxim chassis and Shark motors. Thanks to Griffin Const, Valvoline, Thirty Five Industries, Garvin Tile, Empire Pacific Windows, KPR, Mad Welding, Quickway Vinyl Graphics, cmpvideo2go.com, as well as Cambrian Karts, Balfour Caulking and Waterproofing, Kaeding Performance, Circle Racing Wheels, Crow Enterprises, Bell Safety Equipment and Afco Shocks. www.newtonmotorsports31.com

thanks to mark chaves jr. and to quickway vinyl graphics for design and vinyl on the Griffin Const/ Empire Pacific Windows/Thrity Five Industries #31 Shark powered Maxim. Glad you like it. as a matter of fact we do have shirts! thanks for asking! a sample is on our home page at http://www.newtonmotorsports31.com/index.html as well as team info and jason's blog, "notes from the cockpit." you can inquier if interested at [email protected] and jason will glad to help you out. if you are from the area you can pick them up directly from us at ocean speedway if you are wandering the pits after any GLR 360 series race. here is the series web site http://www.oceansprints.com/index.html you can find the series race schedule there. also you will find directions by clicking the "Race Tracks" button.

I would also like to add that Jason Newton is one of the nicest guys that you'd ever want to meet. The 2007 Ocean Speedway Rookie of the Year, took it upon himself on occasion to write race reports so that the series could gain exposure. All of us from Ocean Speedway and the GLR Investments Sprint Car Series are honored when the No. 31 hauler pulls into the Ocean Speedway pits.
Respectfully,
Gary Costa

hey Costa, i am sure Jason appreciates the nice things you have to say, still i can confirm the ride home after the race is is much better lately since we have done well compared to when we miss the show! LMAO!! thanks for your support as well as to the race fans who come down and say hi. no matter if they are trying to cheer us up after a bad night or patting us on the back after a good one, we are always glad to have people come around and visit.

Gary,
Thanks for the kinds words, they mean a lot. It is truly my pleasure to have assisted this bad ass program in any way possible. I really appreciate what Rick Wright and John Prentice did by bringing this series to life; without it, my dream of racing a sprint car might have disappeared. I love the fact that the GLR folks and people like yourself have stepped in to take this thing to the next level. It is absolutely my pleasure to bring that hauler to any GLR event; big thanks to all involved.
Smokefan14- Yes we have some shirts, if you cant make it out to the track; no worries! Just drop me an email and we will get you hooked up. If you can, come on by and say hi. Hope to see you there. [email protected]
