Knoxville Raceway did away with a weekly program years ago. Something with pictures, head shots of a few drivers, victory lane photos, a couple of driver bios, etc. You had a lucky number on the front, plus a scorecard inside. Am I the only person that misses this sort of thing? Keeping score has become a lost art. It's how you learn the format of the show, understood inverts, learn where drivers were from, etc. Not that the announcers take the time to read off lineups so you write them down anyway these days. But it kept kids busy and something to take to the pits to have autographed and then take home. I still have some from the late 70's and early 80's. They're priceless items to me. But with no Dirt Digest or Race Talk magazines this year, there is nothing like this anymore. Maybe it's not a big deal to most people and I'm stuck in the past here, but seems like it's something missing that we need.

I couldn't agree more. My kids and grandkids grew up always having a program to fill out. They loved it! They cost like 50 cents or later a dollar. Guess I'm old and that was the good old days. We went to an I-cubs game last week. They had an awesome color program with score card and roster for the night all for $1.

I always noticed the female gender filling these type of programs out, time trials, lap times, home towns, finish position, start, ect , I guess I believed it was a interest that many women that typically do bookwork would find a interest in,and hey its racing , I would love to have a few programs that ladies ive sat behind have filled out over the years, I bet the improvements to the cars are sure to show in the numbers , and what driver was fast at that time (era/night) it would all be interesting tidbits, ya, I belive there is a demand, its just too bad thier phased out with no complaint .

dirtdevil you are exactly right. I'm talking about my daughters and granddaughters. I forgot to mention they would have all the point standings figured out on the drive home.

Think about this.....

If it were economically feasible(read money maker), then I'm sure that Knoxville and other tracks would still print and sell a program....some of the Eastern modified tracks still publish a weekly program, but they're few and far between......

I heard they did away with them at Knoxville as a cost cutting measure - and this is understandable since they were given out free of charge at weekly shows. I think it would be great if they printed less and sold them at the gate at weekly shows intead of just handing them out. They will have them for sale at the Knoxville Nationals as in the past though. I DO MISS THEM TOO.
