After talking with members of my racing committee, I have decided to make a few changes to this weekend (and the next weekend):

The first change is that we are going to split up the 6 Make-upo Features and run half of them this weekend and half of them the next weekend. This is to try and prevent particularly late nights and to hopefully have a better racing surface. This weekend we will have the Stock Cars and the 305 and 360 Sprints. July 11th we will run the make up features for the Hornets, Hobbies and B Mods.

All Six Classes will run there regular program both weeks. The only change will be that we will run 3 make-up features each week.

Hot Laps will be at 6:00 both weekends, and the make up features will be 1st in the program.

Also after a lot of thought and discussion with committee members, we will allow new cars to “buy into” the make up features, and start at the tail. The buy in will be what start money is for a particular class.

Here is what my thoughts are on this: There are basically three parties that this concerns the Track, the Fans and the Racers who were at the previous week. From the tracks standpoint we are even, because they are paying start money to get into the feature (and this might eliminate some of these guys anyway). From the fans standpoint it will be a plus if we gain a few cars. So then it is a matter is it fair to the racers that were there the week of the postponement. Well, I have had great discussions on the pros and cons of this and weather or not it is “fair” with the racing committee members.

I will also add that most of the guys that have asked to buy into the make-up features have raced with us and were either broke down or had prior obligations, and they are fine if we allow them to race or we don’t allow them to race.

In the end I have decided that both of the above items will put on a better show for the fans. It shouldn’t be such a late weekend (and we do have fireworks after the races) and we might gain a few extra cars because I know of several that won’t be able to make it.

Also, IMCA also now allows “buy ins” to race for regular IMCA points, so for the stock cars both features will get IMCA points as well as track points.

Thanks and it should be a great weekend.

July 4th: $15 Car Load Night, 3 Extra Features (360 Sprints, 305 Sprints and IMCA Stock Cars) and Fireworks.

July 11th: 3 Extra Features (Hornets, Hobbies and B Mods)

What made you decide which classes to run make-up features this week or next week? Just wondering cuz' I'd like to see the sprints, but won't be able to be there this weekend. Any chance of changing sprints to next weekend?

The reason is that is that on most of my advertsing I was able to include "Double Features" (Like in the Lakes News Shopper and Tri County News in Estherville which is the full cover of this one). Then after talking with several members of the racing committee they really thought it would be smart to split up the features (as there is 6 make up features to run) and most of the committee thought that fireworks don't do you a lot of good at midnight.

Well, I thought that since we had advertised double features (but did not indicate which classes) we should run the top divisions this week.

I understand your reasoning, but is it too late to change if people voice their opinion?

Maybe you could run the 305 sprints this week and then the 360s next week? Whadya think?

Thanks for the response Jon! Good job this year again so far! Hopefully the track will smooth out a little bit soon for everyone.
