If you weren't there, then maybe you should just follow along and not try to make excuses for the 48.
He recieved the blue/yellow flag and should have held his line. He knows the rules.

"BTW That was quite a tumble that kid in the Mini Dwarf took at the beginning of that video clip."
Did it look like the kids helmet was off and banging around in the car?

Just so we got it clear...left side -passing side...right side suicide......maybe justin should adj. his rear view mirror.....wasn't the 48's fault
|
the day we start taking Driving pointers from Dan Ted-wreck is the day we all end up like Guy Woodward
48 should of held his line. being to proud to get lapped is never safe! rookie mistake

I agree, the slide job didn't work. Kevin was too high in the groove and was carrying way to much speed for Cory to make the pass.
Funny thing is, Cory was calculating for the win and didn't care if he crashed Kevin and that is extremely dangerous and should be banned.
Larry "O"

After rereading this clowns post, I think that Larry-o must be new to sprint car racing. Cory could have 'Kruserfied' him if he wanted to. But respect for Kevin and Cory's own equipment stopped the slide job with just enough room. Cory and Kevin are just two of the great drivers there at Ventura.
Larry-o, Maybe your posts should be banned because they are dangerous.
just a thought. Kenny

Sheesh!!!!!!!! Ya know.........I tried real hard to word my post so as to not elicit any acerbic responses......... And just because I wasn't there doesn't mean I "should just follow along". I can make up my own mind thank you. Many times I have assessed an incident at the track only to change my mind about what happened once I was able to study the video clip at home. As for "making excuses for the 48". All I was trying to say is that looking at the video clip it didn't appear to me that Kierce Jr. intentionally punted Woodward into the fence. It even looked like maybe Kierce's front end might have washed out a little bit and carried him up higher in the turn not even knowing that Woodward was going to be there. And that Woodward, being a more experienced driver, had perhaps attempted an ill advised move on a rookie driver. Even inexperienced fans know you need to leave inexperienced drivers a couple of extra feet (at least) because you can't always know or trust what they are going to do.
I for one (with the possible exception of Buzzard's recent "post of the year" tire of all of this rancorous bickering that, of late, pervades far too much of this forum. We're all here because we share a love for the same thing. Open wheel dirt track racing. Like the guy said to the cops right before they beat him some more with their billy clubs, "Can't we all just get along?".

Regardless of the outcome of the Woodward/Kierce wreck. I think the biggest question the drivers and teams involved need to ask is whether they believe Justin wrecked Guy intentionally. How they perceive that, is what will predict the future interactions between these young drivers.

Sheri, welcome to the party.
I think it was a racing deal. No malice on Justin's part. It sure would have been fun to see Guy Woodward racing Kevin though.
For someone that hated winged sprints when I raced up north, I can't get enough of traditional sprints at Ventura. Always a dog fight on the track and too much going on to catch it all.
Someone roll the video please.

Kenny, try the PAS this Saturday night for some more traditional sprint car racing on the half-mile.

Would love to. But I am taking my nephews camping up north. Somewhere east of Placerville. If we get to Sacramento early enough, I'll sneak off to watch the races. Miss it there, just not the wangs.

You see lapped cars changing their line all the time? Doubt it.

You are making way to much out of what I said. Justin would never do that and I would defend him if someone said he did! He will someday be in a class like his father is today. But not until he learns to think with his head and not the throttle. Very common, I know as I did it too!
He was a lap car, he simply changed his line, he drifted up slightly and the rest is history. I saw the race and was watching Kevin and Guy very closely. Justin made a mistake in trying to race the leaders....that is all.
Let's put this to rest. Happy fourth of July!

JayP Know first that I'm not mad or anything, but you took the bait on this one. I didn't start this pissin contest you know. I simply stated an honest opinion that still seems valid to me. And, as I said before, I tried to word it as to "not elicit any acerbic responses". Indeed, I think it is you and ch_flash that were "making way too much of what I said". And he and I have already put that to rest. And I have already agreed that "Justin should have held his line". But he made a rookie mistake. Feces occurs. I'm sorry that Guy has to pay for it. So my friend, let's do put this one to rest still friends. And, despite what is happening in DC and Sacramento...............
You have a happy 4th. of July too. Americans are still great people.
