Just a question for all you sprint fans. Why is the purse the same for a non-sanctioned 360 show at Lee County as a sanctioned show (like WOW), when the promoters don't have to pay a sanctioning fee and should be paying extra out to the drivers????????
Just a question to ponder!

It's a pretty darn good purse. Comparative to Knoxville it is better with the exception of 2nd & 3rd. The saction fees for groups such as the SIA and WOW float around, but usually are less than $1K. That doesn't spread thru the field that far. Besides, how do you know they didn't?

Just wondering any rules at this race or is it a open show? I did email the track and no reply so far.

They probably squandered away the savings on stupid things like maintenance on the water truck or grader, or new paint or light bulbs or new boards for the grandstands.

Part of the plus of a sanctioned show has to be the additional drivers showing up that are chasing points and that attracts more fans. Less fans = less purse. If the gate was the same for sanctioned vs. non-sanctioned...why would you book a sanctioned show? The WoO isn't alive today because the promoter does the same without them.
Heaven forbid that the promoter make money. Of course racing is a socialist adventure... share and share alike. Bad weather? Promoter loses their tail? I'm sure the racers will pay up to keep the promoter promoting and all. (note: there may be a touch of SEVERE sarcasm here)
If the purse isn't good enough... don't tow there & race or don't go to sit in the stands. If you go definitely don't order any hot dogs... that might be profitable for the promoter and, after all, the hot dog money doesn't go into the purse either.
That is your vote in our democratic, free enterprise economy.
I don't begrudge a man making a dollar. The economics of racing don't make sense and it's highly doubtful that they ever will.
The subject of purses will never end... they aren't perfect and never will be.

I'm sure it will be a good show. They had a good race last year.

I heard it was a open tire rule. Other than that Knoxville rules. That's what I heard so no guarantee.

Thanks for all the input. Just being selfish from a car owner/driver point of view. Can't race without the promoters and glad they can pocket a little cash occasionally. Hope to see you all at the Lee County Race on Wednesday night, June 24.
