Fellow Hoser "Speedbump" was kind enough to lend me some of his "library" this winter.
Mel Kenyon - What a great driver and a great, touching read. The guy's numbers will never be matched.
Chris Economaki - About 6 years ago, we were all talking here in Hoseheads about biographies that we would like to see written. My #1 choice was Chris. Now I am lucky enough to have dave Argabright write a masterpiece on the guy has seen it ALL, a great prespective from the man that was there. Truely unbelievable!
Smokey Yunick - WOW! What can I say. He was my hero back when we used to street race in my teens and early 20's (remember "Power Secrets"?). It is 3 volumes and I just started #3. The guy had more knowledge about racing than anyone on the planet and he will never get the full credit that he deserves. Kind of amazing the inventions/patents he has for a 10th grade drop out. THIS IS A MUST READ FOR ANY RACER OR SERIOUS FAN!!!
Thanks again Jim!!!

Smokey made me want to study thermodynamics back in the seventies, until I realised it was actually rocket science. The guy was a genius.

no problem Hawk, the stories are too good to miss, esp Smokey's.
Anybody have reading suggestions until Argabright finishes the rumored Wolfgang book? I already own everything Dave has written. I'd love to find some John Sawyer but I don't think anyone sells his stuff any more. Does the NSCHoF have anything new lately?

Jimbo you brought back a big smile here. When the East Bay country club was in existance, Sawyer, Ken Coles, Offie and others would gather round and swap lies whilst we sipped on a few, times I'll never forget. Heck, I think the main Hoser himself was a part of a few of those good ol' days as well. Take It Easy.....

I have a copy of "Stand on the Gas" I'm willing to put out on loan if anyone wants to read it. All I'll require is that you pass it on to someone else when you finish.

Is that Joe Scalzo's book? Send it to Pat and he can loan it to me when he is done...then I'll forward it on to whoever you want!

Hawker,
I have the Economaki and Yunik books in the collection and they are great as you said. I have all that Dave Argabright has written and will be one of the first in line for his next release. One book that I would also recommend is the Alex Zanardi bio. It's not dirt track but it is a good read. A friend of mine has the Ken Schrader book and has told me that it was good as well, so I will be getting it in the near future.

I will get that on the way to you in the next couple of days Hawker. Be sure to sign the inside cover somewhere before you pass it on to the next person.

I have always been a big fan of Alessandro. I didn't realize he had a bio out. I will definitly get that one. Even after his accident, he is still one hell of a driver for BMW in the rally cars (pavement). If you ever get the chance to watch the Bob Costas HBO episode with Alessandro, you will have a newfound respect for him.
