Jonathan Allard wins and takes Feather Falls Casino points lead at Silver Dollar Speedway

By Gary Thomas

Chico, CA – June 12, 2009…Getting a jump-start on his trip up North Chico, CA's Jonathan Allard drove to victory on Friday night during the ninth race of the Feather Falls Casino point season and in doing so was able to push himself to the top spot in the Silver Dollar Speedway 410 sprint car standings.

The victory marked Allard's third overall in 2009 at the Silver Dollar Speedway and gives him a great momentum boost heading into the Pacific Northwest. "It's great to come out here and get a win and it's really due to my great team that I have behind me with Ashley Smith, Bob-O, Trace, Shawn and the all the other guys who help us out and of course my car owners Morrie and Katie Williams," Allard said.

The two-time King of California and current Golden State Challenge Series points leader started from the second row in the 25 lap main event on Friday night, but he didn't waste any time moving his way to the front. The opening lap saw Allard muscle his way past pole sitter Andy Forsberg to put the K&N Filters, Platinum Powder Coating, JP's Paint & Body No. 0 up to second.

With the track being rough in various spots it didn't deter Allard from getting up on the wheel as he immediately put his machine on the tip top of speedway in turns one and two. Following an early race caution "JA" charged to the top side in the first and second corners on the restart and blew past leader Zach Zimmerly to take over the top spot of the race. After taking the lead he would stretch it out over the rest of the competitors, but a number of cautions and a couple reds kept the field close to his bumper.

With the laps winding down Loomis, CA's Kyle Hirst took a peak or two on a pair of restarts, but Allard held his ground and rocketed away over the final circuits to cross under the checkered flag for his second weekly victory of the Feather Falls Casino season. "I want to thank Alan Handy for putting in all the work with this track because we all really appreciate it," Allard commented. "It's not exactly where we want it yet, but like any new surface it's going to take some time to come in and I really think we're going benefit because it's going to be great."

Allard is scheduled to be in competition at the Southern Oregon Speedway in Medford today, weather permitting. He'll take an 11 point lead in the Golden State Challenge Series standings into the night as he looks to get everything fine-tuned for the upcoming Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup. "We're looking forward to this trip and hopefully the weather cooperates for us. Skagit Speedway is like a second home to me and it's just one of my favorite places to go so the Dirt Cup can't come fast enough," Allard concluded.
