Tyler Walker and SC Motorsports Show Strength in Civil War Series Run

By Gary Costa

Placerville, CA (June 3, 2009) – Tyler Walker returned to Placerville Speedway, a track that the SC Motorsports Team was victorious at last Saturday May 30th. The win came after an exciting Golden State Challenge Sprint Car Series 30-lap feature event. The win at Placerville would mark the team's fifth win of the season in GSC competition.

The NMI Industrial Contractors, Scott Chastain owned JEI competed in "Wild Winged Wednesday" which was a Civil War Series 360 Sprint Car event. The last time the team dropped a 360 power plant in the car was back on March 7th at Marysville Speedway in the "Spring Sprint Car Open" where Walker charged to fourth after coming from the back of the field.

Walker went out and ripped around the speedway in the Lee Lindgren wrenched mount in qualifying. Walker timed in with a 10.500 which was good enough for fourth quick out of the 37 stout Sprint Cars in the Placerville pit area.

Heat No. 4 would be the first race of the evening for the LA hot shoe. Walker would start in the sixth position and he knows that the laps tick off at a furious pace at Placerville. Walker knew that he would have his work cut out for him, so when the green flew without any hesitation from the Shark Racing Engine, Walker immediately went to work on the field finishing in the second spot.

With rain threatening the area Walker would start third next to Andy Forsberg. When the green lights flashed on around the speedway, Walker began maneuvering his way to the front and after moving into second he was doing all that he could with the racy Forsberg. On the 15th go around Walker began seeing rain drops on his visor. Unfortunately the race was checkered on lap-18 with Walker finishing second.

"We had a strong run, but I was really hoping that we would be able to get more laps in for the fans. It's pretty neat to be racing on a Wednesday though," Walker said. "It brings back a lot of memories from when I was running with the World of Outlaws and the All-Stars. It is so much fun racing with this team. Scott (Chastain) is a great car owner and the team is behind me 100%."

Saturday (June 6th) the SC Motorsports Team was scheduled to race with the GSC at American Valley Speedway in Quincy, CA, but the weather gods had other plans as the race was cancelled. The next race for the SC Motorsports Team will come in Round No. 13 at Southern Oregon Speedway in Medford, OR June 13th for more GSC Sprint Car action.
