Is a driver allowed to run both classes now? I thought I saw Ricky Montgomery running both last night.

Knoxville's results page shows him in both classes...it also lists him as a rookie in the 360 division but not the 410. (??)
Do these guys really tow 12 hours each week or are the cars local?

I think you can run both 305 and either 410 & 360 but i think the only way you can run both 410 and 360 is if its something you do rarely. i don't think you can run for points in both classes. Ricky did a great job last night in the 360's and looked good in the 410's with an old engine.

Ricky does keep the car at a great friend's shop outside Knoxville. His dad and him do commute each week, staying with friends who are more like extended family, on weekends. It takes an extreme amount of dedication to the sport & to Knoxville, to travel 1400 miles each week in order to run the 360 class.
The 410 belongs to Bill Smith of Rushmore, MN and is the car Gordy Vogelaar drives at Husets on Sundays. They didn't know each other prior to the Masters and Bill is gracious enough to allow Ricky to drive the car a few times at Knoxville this year. Thanks to Bill, Ricky is having an opportunity to run in the big class, which is fueling his appetite to go more 410 racing.
Bill and Pat Smith are truly a credit to our sport. Everyone wants to win; the Smith's are also in it to have fun. The smile on their faces when Ricky qualified for the feature is worth a thousand words and a sight I'll always remember. Thank you Bill and Pat, for bringing to the forefront the reason why we all love the sport of sprint car racing.

If this post isn't results, stories or something c

I don't think there is a rule written in the rule book that covers this exactly, but from what I have understood is that you can not run in both classes (360 & 410) on the same night unless it's during the 360 Nationals. But it appears this rule did not apply to the 305 races this last week. But I do know of a driver who asked to race in both 360 and 410 for one night only a couple of years ago and he was denied the request.

I kind of liked the extra class of 305's running this weekend.

There was several people who ran in both the 360 class and the 305 class... Would it be fair to decline the request of a kid who has an offer to run both a 360 and 410 on the same night that people are running both the 305 and 360 class... The car is owned by Ricky's father and is out of Lakewood CO. It is stored in town but they travel back every weekend to race..
