North Dakota driver killed in crash

WEST FARGO, N.D. (AP)—A 47-year-old driver died after a wreck in a race at Red River Valley Speedway that sent his car airborne and sliding on its roof.

John Schulz died Saturday night after his car rolled on the back straightaway during the second lap of the modified division race. Cass County officials said Schulz was taken to a Fargo hospital and pronounced dead shortly afterward.

Another driver, John Odden, was just behind Schulz and said he saw Schulz slide into fellow driver Jon Bachmeier before Schulz’s car became airborne.

“When I saw him launch up in the air, I knew right away it was a bad deal,” Odden said. “He was a good 25-30 feet in the air. … I slowed down and turned left to avoid it. I saw his roof hit. That’s the last point that I saw.”

Yesterday
is history,
tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift. That is
why they call it the present.
