410s (22 Cars)
Welcome Mat Tim Kaeding in the Roth #83, Wade Nygaard, Bronson Maeschen, Jack Dover
MIA Gordy Vogelaar, Kerry Madsen
VIP Same spot over in turn 1, but it seems like the section is multiplying in size. Had to be about 12 of us tonight including a couple Little J's, Ms. J, LDA24 and his wife.
Time Trials (1 lap each) TK (19th car out) set the standard with a good lap at 10.677 with an average speed of 126.44 MPH. Scott Winters would also be eligible for the Baete Forseth Challenge if he would go top 5 in his heat since he was 2nd quick at 10.861. Terry McCarl noticeably went low on his lap and still was 4th quick and still broke into the teens. The top 18 hitting the heat invert: TK, Winters, Maeschen, McCarl, Johnn Cressman, Gregg Bakker, Jake Peters, Dover, Mark Dobmeier, Clint Garner, John Lambertz, Lynton Jeffrey, Nygaard, Troy Meyer, Chad Meyer, Marlon Jones, Joe Riedel, and Robby Wolfgang
Time Trials Grade: B+; It is slowly becoming a game to see who can sandbag the best in order to start up closer to the front for not only the heat, but also the feature. It's a complete chess match with a few of the drivers who are trying to place theirselves in the lineup.

Heat 1 Finish: 9M 24 9N 40/ 83 16 6 17B
Heat 1 Notes: Jones took the lead as T-Mac quickly moved into the invert spot of 4th on the start as Peters faded back to 6th. McCarl was up to 2nd at the halfway point and TK was all over Garner for 4th at the same time. Kaeding couldn't execute a pass for the spot as Garner would hold on for 4th. McCarl was all over Jones on the last lap, and dived out of turn 4 on the bottom to see if he could get past Jones for the heat win, but Jones barely held on for his 2nd heat win of the year.

Heat 2 Notes: Riedel took the initial lead as Dover ducked into 2nd on the start and would take the lead out of turn 2 on lap 3. Winters was mashing the throttle and quickly moved up to 3rd and running down the leaders until he got to Riedel and couldn't get around him by using the bottom of the track. T. Meyer spun in turn 3 on the last lap with front-end damage.

Heat 3 Finish: 4 12 13 1A/ 11x 2H 96(DNF)
Heat 3 Notes: C. Meyer shot out to the lead and never looked back after taking the point. Jeffrey had a great battle with Dobmeier on the opening lap that saw him take 3rd away from the 2 time defending track champion. Jeffrey would pass Wolfgang for 2nd out of turn 4 with 3 laps to go and Dobmeier did the same to Wolfgang a lap later in the same spot. Maeschen pulled in with rear-end problems and was done for the night. C. Meyer picked up his 2nd heat win of the year.
Heat Grades: A-; That first heat race will be as stacked of a heat we will see all year on a Sunday night. That was a fun heat to watch with a couple of former WoO regulars vying for invert positions for the feature. The track was looking good and was providing great action throughout, as the skies continued to darken overhead. Winters accepted to the Backrow Challenge to start 22nd on the grid for a chance at a $5,500 payday for the win.
B Feature (Top Tag the A, Laps)
B Feature Grade/Notes: No B Feature as all 22 cars would be eligible to start the A

A Feature Finish: Only 6 laps were completed due to rain; feature will be finished next Sunday, June 7th
A Feature Notes: The Butterfield Bad Ass goes to the back to see if he can pull off the miracle by coming 22nd to 1st for a big payday. Chad Meyer took the lead as Jeffrey quickly moved into 2nd as well. McCarl was on the move as well from his 5th row starting position and was up to 5th after a handful of laps. A lap 4 caution would come as the lightning continued to get stronger from the western sky for Winters who looped it in turn 1 with Riedel slamming into him with nowhere to go. Winters figured he was done, got out of his car, and then back in after discovering he could continue, causing a delay for him to get strapped back in; both cars would restart as well.
The restart saw C. Meyer ahead of Jeffrey, Garner, Nygaard, and McCarl and rain drops began drop during the yellow. A couple more laps were completed until a lap 7 red was shown for Dover who tried his best Spiderman imitation by trying to take down the turn 1 fence. He was fine, and the car rolled out back as the rain continued to pick up. The wind also switched during the red, to let the thousands in attendance know that the weather wasn't effing around anymore. Another small delay to try to repair the fence happened and drivers were given the opportunity to let track officials know if the track conditions were too much. Rain continued to come down harder and the race would be postponed until next Sunday. I don't have the complete running order, hopefully will come morning, but the top 4 looks like this with 19 to go: C. Meyer, Jeffrey, Garner, McCarl.
A Feature Grade: NA; this was going to be a complete barn burner had Mother Nature not interfered. Chad looked really fast up on the cushion, and Lynton was all over him by running the bottom, and of course McCarl was the fastest guy on the track and coming in a hurry. Lets hope the track is somewhat respectable when they run this next week!
360s (16 Cars) Eric Lutz rocketed from his pole position and set a blistering pace for everyone else behind him. Jody Rosenboom quickly worked up to 2nd from his 6th starting spot by lap 2 and was trying to run down Lutz. A red on lap 5 for Knoxville regular, Josh Padelford would come and Lutz barely missed his carnage after coming up on the wreckage; Padelford was okay. Lutz led Rosenboom, Kevin Flowers, and Wolfgang to the green until a red on the next lap for Cody Hansen who hopped the thick turn 1 cushion and flipped her there, right after Rosenboom did the same thing, but saved his car from flipping.
The restart after that saw Lutz check out once again from Rosenboom and everybody else as he would claim his 1st career win at the track. Rosenboom would hold off a charging Wolfgang for 2nd as Cressman would complete a slider in the last corner to come home 4th ahead of Flowers.
360 Finish: 5 27 1A 15 42 1 12 17v 2D 17B/ 24 77 54 34 11 76
FOAW: Chad Meyer looked great out front all night and Eric Lutz was just downright filthy to the rest of the 360 field. Its going to be Chad's race to lose next week, especially if the feature is completed early in the night on a heavy track.
Crowd Pleasing Moment #1: Seeing 22 410's sign in for the night, and some very stout cars at that. Hopefully TK continues to show up with Forbrook turning the wrenches as well as guys like Nygaard and Maeschen even though he's having bad luck up here. Great car count and a great amount of talent throughout that field!
Crowd Pleasing Moment #2: Things started off great for the night, even though a little late, with the guy from the SD Lottery singing the National Anthem for the first time this year. You better believe he had it done again in under a minute, as usual! He is a VIP favorite! Let's get him up there every week, dammit!
WTF: TK bicycling the #83 early in the A feature and literally being on one wheel! That wheel was his right front and by some crazy frigging way he was able to save the car from going over! One of the craziest things I've ever seen in person; great save TK!
"Home of the Professionals" Moment of the Night: About the only thing that could be scratched at was the National Anthem being over at 7:12. Those 12 minutes could have really been used to complete the 410 A, but Huset's did a great job of hurrying the program along to try to get the whole show in.
Mulligan Moment: After it had looked like we would get rained out early in the evening, the sun decided to peak back out from the west, making it look like we would get the complete show in and done at a great time.
Head Scratcher: Let's hurry the entire program along in the future like tonight, and last Monday, in order to send the patrons home at a decent time. You may be surprised by the attendance (and how much bigger it would get) if you continue to do this so the final checkers are flown at 9:30 or before!
Thumbs Up: To the "Pink My Ride" drivers would dawned pink on their race cars in order to raise money and awareness for the Children's Miracle Network. After hearing the news, it sounded like the Johnson brothers raised about 25K Saturday night at I-90. Thanks to everyone who participated and/or donated to the great cause.
Thumbs Down: Rain sucks, period.
Prime Mover: N/A
Trophy Queen Grade: N/A; No trophy presentations
Closing Stat of the Night: N/A until next week.
Final Thought: Rain sucks, but next Sunday should be fun with essentially 2 410 shows for the price of one. Preliminary reports coming in from MN show that the mighty Wertz is in for one last show at Huset's before moving, with BT24 probably never crossing the MN/SD border ever again... Next report: Sunday, June 7th
