Jac Haudenschild Receives Induction into the Sprint Car Hall of Fame

By Gary Costa

Wooster, Ohio – May 27, 2009 – Fan favorite, Jac Haudenschild will be inducted into the Sprint Car Hall of Fame this Saturday, May 30. Longtime friend, and '07 Hall of Fame inductee, Kenny Jacobs from Holmesville, Ohio will be in Knoxville to accept Jac's induction.

Jac began his career 35 years ago and it has been a long and storied career. Haudenschild is a second-generation racer, who started racing at tracks like Lakeville Speedway and Wayne County Speedway. Haudenschild amazingly won his first race at 16-years-old and hasn't looked back since.

Jac has won races from the United States to Australia and all points in between. He's raced Midgets in New Zealand, and he's won all of the big shows including the Historical Big One, the Kings Royal, the Mopar Million, the Gold Cup, and quite arguably the most exciting Sprint car race ever; The 1999 Front Row Challenge at Oskaloosa just to name a few. At Oskaloosa he started at the back of the field and charged to the front, whipping the crowd into a frenzy along the way.

"The first time I saw Jac race, he ran 2nd to Ferkel in a 50-lap race at Eldora," legendary Sprint Car driver Doug Wolfgang commented on Jac's desire to become one of the best. "He couldn't get himself out of the car after the race, but he still hung on to run 2nd! You just knew that he was going to be good. He had the desire that it takes to be good."

Fourth-generation driver, Sheldon Haudenschild is making a career of his own in the Haudenschild Motorsports No. 93 Maxim. Sheldon is coming off of an impressive weekend, where the young shoe is coming off of a solid sixth place finish in Winged 410 Sprint car action held at Wayne County Speedway. The young lion will again be racing a 410 at Wayne County Speedway this Saturday evening.

"The Wild Child" will be gunning for the win at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio Friday night and I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, MI, Saturday in the Lon Carnahan owned No. R19 with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series. Jac won a USAC feature event at Attica Raceway back on August 3, 1990 in Johnny Vance's No. 2V.
