Sprint Invaders Invade Columbus Junction on Friday!

(Bill W) May 18, 2009 – The Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders will invade the CJ Raceway in Columbus Junction, Iowa this Friday night! The race will mark the second race on the 2009 schedule, but already, three shows (two of them at the Morgan County Speedway in Jacksonville, Illinois) have fallen to Mother Nature.

Last August, John Schulz emerged victorious on CJ Raceway's high-speed 4/10 mile oval last August. The 2008 Sprint Invaders champion held off teammate Josh Schneiderman to the line for the win. Josh Higday finished third ahead of Pete Crall, who rebuilt his car after a dash mishap, and Russ Hall, who worked his way up from 16th.

The Sprint Invaders opened their season at the 34 Raceway five weeks ago. 2007 series champion Kaley Gharst and car owner Randy Plath emerged victorious, and signaled that they will be a team to contend with all summer long. "Flyin'" Ryan Jamison who finished second, Matt Rogerson, who finished third and defending series champion, John Schulz round out the top four in the standings. Jimmy Davies and Rookie of the Year candidate, Ben Wagoner, are tied for fifth heading into Columbus Junction.

Other drivers expected to appear include Bobby Mincer, Schneiderman, Matt Sutton, Justin Parrish, 2008 "Most Improved" driver, Matt Harms, 2008 Rookie of the Year, Andy Huston, Donnie Steward and many more!

Jesse Giannetto is the all-time wins leader with the Sprint Invaders at Columbus Junction with three. Jerrod Hull, Kerry Madsen, Bobby Hawks, Nick Eastin and Schulz last season are the other winners at the historic facility.

Adult Tickets are just $10! Senior tickets are $9, with students $7. Children 10 and under are free with a paying adult. Gates open at 5:00, with hot laps and 7:00 and races at 7:30!

Thanks to several SIA teams, all kids will receive a free ice cream cone AND there will be some drivers helping to dish out that ice cream and sign autographs when the gates open.
