Jimmy Pettit drives Larabee owned sprinter to fourth place finish in Chico

By Gary Thomas

Chico, CA – May 17, 2009…With his own sprint car out of commission for the weekend Chico's Jimmy Pettit hopped aboard a car owned by good David Larabee on Friday in an attempt to maintain his Silver Dollar Speedway point lead and at the end of night he was able to bring home a fourth place finish in the main event.

As motor problems arose during the week for Pettit it looked like he might have had to miss this past Friday's event, but coming to the aid was good friend and fellow competitor David Larabee. A deal was made and for Friday's Moore Insurance & Financial Services Night, Pettit climbed behind the wheel of Larabee's wingless sprint to stay in the points hunt.

A short nine car field was on hand for the sixth point race of the Feather Falls Casino point season and Pettit kicked off the event by finishing sixth in the one and only wingless sprint heat race. "The Love-shack" then started from the outside of the third row in the feature and hung tough in an attrition filled contest to bring home a fourth place finish after 20 laps of racing.

Pettit wanted to give much appreciation to Larabee for allowing him to run his car during the night. "I really have to thank David Larabee a ton for giving me a chance to race tonight because midway through the week it looked like I'd be sitting out for the night," Pettit said. "We wish more cars woulda come out but we were pretty good and a couple times I thought I could get third, but never had the momentum to get by when the openings came."

Next up for Jimmy Pettit will be this coming Saturday's annual Fair event at the Silver Dollar Speedway. With the Silver Dollar Fair in town the point racing moves to Saturday and the Chico racer will bring the Feather Falls Casino/Hunt Magnetos wingless point lead into the evening of competition. Entrance into the grandstands is free after paying fair admission, making it one of the most economical nights of the year for racing fans. More info can be found at
