Tyler Walker Looks to Unleash Thunder at the Thunderbowl
By Gary Costa
Sacramento, Ca. (May 14, 2009) – Tyler Walker will be taking a slim two point lead into the Tulare Thunderbowl Raceway's Golden State Challenge Series race. This Saturday's race is the Chris & Brian Faria Memorial and will mark stop No. 6 for the series. Walker won this same race last year.
Walker will look to put some distance between himself and fierce competitor Jonathan Allard. Allard won the prestigious Dave Bradway, Jr., Memorial that was held at Silver Dollar Speedway last Saturday night. Walker recovered from a late race spin and a hurt motor to finish fourth in the event.
Walker has won three Golden State Challenge Series Sprint Car races this year in the Scott Chastain owned JEI. The last visit to Tulare garnered the NMI Industrial Contractors No. 24 an eighth place finish at the 3/8-mile track. Last March however a visit from the traveling World of Outlaws Series, the team finished an impressive fourth.
To his credit Walker owns eight career GSC victories. Last year Walker was anything less than spectacular during Thunderbowl visits. The team put together one Golden State win and two second place finishes. In addition to the success with the 410, the team dropped a 360 bullet to compete in the always entertaining Trophy Cup. Walker won the first two nights of the hotly contested event.
"I'm really looking forward to racing at Tulare," shot caller Lee Lindgren said. "We have had some success in Tulare. Tyler is real confident there. I'm hoping that we can get him rolling around there pretty good so he can run it up by the boards and put on a show for the fans!"
The hardworking SC Motorsports team is comprised of Lee Lindgren, Jason Chastain, Erik Eklund, Chelsea Molina, Rob Rennenburg and Bob Baker.
