found this in the 360 rules....

EXCESSIVE NOISE
MUFFLERS ARE REQUIRED AND MUST MEET 95 DBA. AT 100 FEET. We will make every effort to inform you if your car is running loud during hot laps, but it is your responsibility to check with the Pit Stewart to make sure you were not loud during qualifying. We have a limited number of officials and to make sure you receive as much time as possible to repair sound problems during qualifying, each car should have a crew member check with the steward after their qualifying run.

a. If a car misses his or her drawn qualifying position by more than two cars; or if they elect to run one lap at the end; or if both laps are illegal due to exceeding the sound requirements of the racetrack; the best starting position they will receive for the heats will be behind the heat race inversions, and 11th in the "A" main event.
b. With the standard Six-car inversion for the heats, this means the best you can start a heat under this penalty would be fourth row inside or seventh starting position.
c. If you do not transfer from your heat directly to the "A" main you will be lined up for the "B" main by your legal qualifying time. However the 11th place starting position penalty for the "A" main used currently will still be in effect should you transfer to the "A" main.

i have seen that. not to be an ass, but they have deviated from the rules this year on some things and was just wondering what the official word would be. as you can see, what you have posted refers to a standard six car heat inversion and they don't invert 6, they invert 4. so that is another deviation. what ever they do is what it is, i just would like to know and for it to be consistent.

here is something else in the rules that is not clear:

RESTARTS

  1. 1. Single file, nose to tail alignment, front straight. The leader sets a consistent pace middle of back straight and starts the race at a point of their choosing, between turn four and a cone located along the front straight. Once any car passes this cone, you are under green flag conditions and free to pass.
  2.

  3. 2. Any cars going inside of cone, hitting cone or passing prior to the cone, or failing to maintain a nose to tail alignment, will be considered a jump. The penalty will be two positions back for each car jumped.
  4. anyone else notice the different ways this could be argued? it could be said that there are contradictory directions here, or not.

This whole noise issue is a joke! It is a matter of physics, it can vary and deviate as the wind blows, qualifier by qualifier. We saw this Saturday night at the Bradway at Chico. We lost guys that qualified well but were too loud and after going back out for 1 last lap were still too loud. After being told they would have to run at the back of everything that night one car opted to load up and go home. Statler however, chose to stay and run......the C, and ended up wrecking his car. This means now that Jason who runs both the GLR 360 series and GSC is done for a period of time. This is a shame for all concerned and I for one think if you are running legal headers and mufflers then the tracks need to consider the source, the elements with the weather and how inaccurate their measuring the noise really is, and just fine the drivers....I hear a $100 bucks has been thrown out there rather than penalize them on the track. We all know about the noise limits and I think everyone does their part to do what they can to comply. It's just a shame that we lose Statler, he has been in the top 5 of both series all year and is an exciting driver that won't be there for some time to come to thrill the crowds.

i have a bit more time to reply to this now than before so i will try to address it more specific. i saw in the rules what you posted. thanks. i also found the same thing addressed in a different place in a bit of a different way.

8. Any car that misses their spot by more than two cars, or exceeds the maximum sound level allowed, will be penalized in the "A" main. The best they can start is one position passed the maximum inversion. This penalty will also eliminate qualifying points for that car owner and driver.
