Skip Jackson presided over group qualifying with a time of 15.230 seconds. He was followed by Don Droud Jr., Bob Weuve, Josh Schneiderman, Chris Morgan, Davey Heskin, Calvin Landis, Johnny Herrera, Billy Balog and Brian Brown. Billy Alley attempted twice to get a time, but failed due to mechanical woes. Derek Ingalls also failed to get a time in.

Heat one (started): 1. Mike Moore 69 (1) 2. Jackson 2 (6) 3. Balog 17B (4) 4. Scott Neitzel 2wx (2) 5. Morgan 7K (5) / 6. Phillip Mock 1m (7) 7. Derek Ingalls 91 (9) 8. Troy Manteufel K9 (10) 9. Seth Brahmer 13v (3) 10. Nick Alden 8A (8) DNS - Scott Uttech 3K

Moore led the 8-lapper that transferred the top five to the feature for the distance. Brahmer was running strong in second until he tangled with the lapped machine of Alden, affecting the handling in his front end, and costing him a transfer. Jackson did well to move up from sixth.

Heat two (started): 1. Mark Dobmeier 13 (2) 2. Dusty Zomer 17G (3) 3. Brown 21 (4) 4. Droud Jr. 47 (6) 5. Heskin 56 (5) / 6. Bill Wirth 53w (1) 7. Billy Hafemann 2B (7) 8. Ryan Irwin 49I (9) 9. Andy Hunt 9A (8) 10. Scott Lenz 99s (10)

Dobmeier shot out to an early lead and pulled away for the win. Wirth held down the final transfer until Heskin and Droud battled by late. Droud passed Heskin for fourth on the final go-around.

Heat three (started): 1. Bronson Maeschen 1 (4) 2. Weuve 19 (6) 3. Pete Crall 1PC (1) 4. Scott Biertzer 4B (2) 5. John Haeni 21J (7) / 6. Dave Uttech 68 (8) 7. Russel Borland 23 (9) 8. Casie Shilling 16c (10) 9. Landis 70 (5) 10. Rager Phillips 10 (3)

Crall led early before a stoppage for a stopped Phillips on lap four. On the restart, Landis moved by Crall for the lead, only to slow to a stop and retire for the evening. Weuve was now in second and on the move, using the low groove to steal the point on lap five. Maeschen approached the leader on the final lap and beat Weuve to the line by .041 seconds at the checkers.

Heat four (started): 1. Herrera 2w (5) 2. Mike Reinke 02 (2) 3. Lynton Jeffrey 24 (3) 4. Billy Alley 22 (10) 5. Steve Meyer 85m (1) / 6. Ryan Anderson 71R (4) 7. Austin McCarl 17A (7) 8. Schneiderman 49 (6) 9. Kris Spitz 4K (8) 10. Matt VanderVere 10v (9)

Reinke led the first half of the heat, with Herrera blowing to the front on lap five. Alley was in a transfer spot from the tail by the halfway point, and in fourth by lap six. A spin by VanderVere on lap seven set up a duel between Meyer and Anderson for the final transfer. The pair exchanged the spot twice, but it was Meyer gaining it back on the final lap.

B main (started): 1. Schneiderman (1) 2. Brahmer (2) 3. Anderson (3) 4. McCarl (7) / 5. Hafemann (6) 6. Wirth (4) 7. Irwin (13) 8. Hunt (9) 9. D. Uttech (10) 10. Alden (8) 11. Manteufel (14) 12. Spitz (11) 13. Mock (5) 14. Lenz (17) 15. C. Shilling (16) 16. Ingalls (18) 17. Borland (12) 18. VanderVere (15) DNS - Landis, Phillips, S. Uttech

Before the start, VanderVere and Ingalls stopped in turns three and four, retiring for the night. Schneiderman led the 12-lap duration despite a pair of stoppages. On lap seven, Mock spun on the frontstretch while running sixth after a battle with McCarl. Anderson and Brahmer battled behind Schneiderman for the second spot, before Borland tipped over in turn four. Ingalls was also involved in teh melee and retired. McCarl had passed Wirth who had clung to the final transfer for most of the race, qualifying the high school sophomore for his first career feature at Knoxville.

A main (started): 1. Herrera (1) 2. Droud Jr. (5) 3. Brown (8) 4. Maeschen (9) 5. Alley (20) 6. Jackson (6) 7. Zomer (7) 8. Jeffrey (11) 9. Dobmeier (13) 10. Weuve (4) 11. Heskin (2) 12. Balog (7) 13. Neitzel (12) 14. Schneiderman (21) 15. Anderson (23) 16. Morgan (3) 17. Meyer (18) 18. McCarl (24) 19. Crall (17) 20. Haeni (19) 21. Reinke (15) 22. Moore (16) 23. Brahmer (22) 24. Biertzer (14)

Herrera led the 20-lapper early before Biertzer tagged the first turn wall on lap two. The restart saw Herrera ahead of Jackson, Droud Jr., Heskin, and Morgan. Jackson stuck with the leader while fighting off Droud Jr. before a lap six stoppage for Moore, who jumped the turn one cushion and crashed hard. He was unhurt. Brown had passed Heskin for fourth, and Alley had surged from 20th to 11th at that point. After the green fell, Jackson stuck with Herrera for several laps. Droud Jr. used the low side of turn four to get by Jackson, and Brown followed him into third. Alley continued his charge into the top five as the rest of the laps went non-stop, and earned an extra $200 for hard-charger. Herrera couldn't shake Droud Jr., but the last eight laps belonged to him as he sliced through lapped traffic with precision, gaining his 11th career win at Knoxville paying $3,000.

360s

Heat one (started, *qualified for feature): 1. Chad Humston 1m (6*) 2. Joe Beaver 53 (1*) 3. Russ Hall 29 (4*) 4. Alan Zoutte 33 (2*) 5. Ryan Roberts 18 (7) 6. Brett Mather 12m (5) 7. Kevin Ingle 2 (9) 8. Josh Higday 71 (3) 9. Chad Heimbaugh 04 (11) 10. Josh Padellford 34 (8) 11. Nate Mosher 22N (10)

The first try at green saw Mosher get into the turn four wall, ending his night. The next try was no good either, as Padellford tumbled in turn three. He was uninjured. Once underway, Beaver lead early in the 7-lapper. Humston moved into third on the opening circuit and had the lead by lap four, continuing his impressive start to the season. Roberts was fast late, challenging Zoutte for fourth and what would have been a transfer, but he came up short.

Heat two (started, *qualified for feature): 1. Johnny Anderson 2a (2*) 2. Tom Lenz 8L (4*) 3. Randy Martin 14 (6*) 4. Ricky Logan 10A (11*) 5. Jay Russell 76 (1) 6. Ricky Montgomery 9m (8) 7. Rod Richards 12 (10) 8. Robby Wolfgang 1a (9) 9. Dustin Selvage 7 (7) 10. CJ Houseman 80x (5) 11. Glen Hunt G74 (3)

Anderson led the non-stop race flag to flag. Martin looked fast, and came just short of second at the line, but Logan was the story, charging from the tail to fourth.

Heat three (started, *qualified for feature): 1. Clint Garner 40 (6*) 2. Seth Bergman 23 (3*) 3. Tyler Thompson 48 (2*) 4. Lee Grosz 4J (9*) 5. Bryan Dobesh 10 (8*) 6. Gregg Bakker 11x (10) 7. Brant O'Banion 47 (1) 8. Chad Meyer 1w (7) 9. Jason Eckard 2H (5) 10. Dave Hall (4)

Hall exited immediately. Thompson led early, but gave way to a quick Garner on lap three. Bergman looked fast in the stacked heat, as did Grosz, who continues to improve at Knoxville. Meyer and Eckard bicycled together to start the event, but kept it sunny-side-up.

Heat four (started, *qualified for feature): 1. Nate Van Haaften 3 (2*) 2. Jon Agan 54 (3*) 3. Jonathan Cornell 28 (1*) 4. Tasker Phillips 7TAZ (4) 5. Dennis Moore Jr. 20 (9) 6. Jon Corbin 15 (5) 7. Matt Moro 2m (8) 8. Mike Houseman Jr. Y2 (10) 9. John Hall 7H (6) DNS - Danny Heskin 6 (7)

Cornell led early, but Van Haaften used a sticky low groove to work to the lead for good on lap two. He checked out on the rest of the field.

C main (started): 1. J. Hall (2) 2. Eckard (1) / 3. D. Hall (3) 4. CJ Houseman (4) 5. Hunt (5) DNS - Padellford, Mosher

J. Hall led throughout. Hunt stopped and exited on lap two, bringing the only slowdown in the 6-lapper.

B main (started): 1. Roberts (1) 2. Moore Jr. (4) 3. Bakker (2) 4. Mather (8) / 5. Corbin (10) 6. Montgomery (6) 7. Moro (11) 8. Meyer (17) 9. Phillips (3) 10. Wolfgang (13) 11. Russell (5) 12. Richards (7) 13. J. Hall (19) 14. Selvage (18) 15. Ingle (9) 16. Eckard (20) 17. Heimbaugh (16) 18. Higday (15) 19. O'Banion (12) 20. Houseman Jr. (14)

Roberts led the duration of the 10-lapper. Higday and Houseman Jr. contacted at the start, sending the latter pitside with a flat left rear. Higday would later end up in the fence on lap five. The only slowdown of the race saw Roberts leading Bakker, Moore Jr., Montgomery and Mather back to green flag racing. Moore Jr. and Bakker battled for second, while the leader pulled away. Mather got by Montgomery for the final transfer and then held off Corbin's advances.

A main (started): 1. Logan (3) 2. Martin (7) 3. Garner (5) 4. Anderson (4) 5. Humston (6) 6. Lenz (1) 7. Van Haaften (2) 8. R. Hall (12) 9. Mather (20) 10. Bakker (19) 11. Dobesh (15) 12. Agan (10) 13. Beaver (11) 14. Bergman (8) 15. Moore Jr. (18) 16. Roberts (17) 17. Thompson (13) 18. Zoutte (16) 19. Grosz (9) 20. Cornell (14)

Cornell retired before a lap was complete. Logan ducked under the front row going into turn one when the green fell, and started pulling away from Anderson who followed him from row two. The 15-lapper saw Logan open up a three second lead before the halfway point, when Grosz, who was running eighth took a hard ride after contact with another car in turn two. He was uninjured. The restart saw Logan leading Anderson, Martin, Garner and Lenz. Martin used the low side to battle by Anderson into second, and Garner followed suit. Humston worked over Lenz late for a spot in the top five. Mather earned hard-charger honors by advancing 11 spots from row ten. Logan's dominating win was his fourth in a 360, and eigth overall at Knoxville.

Looks like the IRA did about as well against the Knoxville gang last night as the All Stars did against the Posse.

Thanks Bill. I can't wait for next week, when Logan will have his 410 in & Terry McCarl will be there to take on the other 410 drivers. Should be a great night for watching sprint cars!!

Congrats to Johnny Herrera & Ricky Logan, for thier victories. Plus a special "Way to go" to Austin McCarl, for his 1st A-Main in only his 2nd night racing a 410. Looks like we just may have a star in the making!
