Some people on this message board and others have found it amusing to try and discredit some of the things I have been working on the past couple of months due to my involvement last year with Guy Webb. And, although it is an open forum, certain people are posting bogus information. Some of you have met me in some sort of capacity, some of you may read this and think, "Who the heck is this guy?" For the audience that the latter applies to, I apologize upfront for wasting your time.
#1 - I am no longer with Guy Webb or any of his series in any capacity. There are many people that will back me up on this statement including Mr. Webb himself. I resigned my post in late November and Mr. Webb and I have come to a conclusive resolve to our differences. I will still continue to support the Midwest All Star Series for the simple fact that I am a big fan of the drivers and his series gives those drivers racing opportunities that is all. I have been a fan of the drivers of the series for many years, including years prior to the formation of the series. A person can be a fan of a series or group of drivers and not be aligned with the happenings of the ownership.
#2 - I do not go to certain tracks or work with other series as a "spy" (as it has been put before) for Guy Webb or the All Star brand. One of the best things about stepping down from my post with the Midwest All Stars is that I get the chance to be a fan again. I get to go to the races I want and work with the people I choose. I think I have made some wise decisions in the past few months with whom I have become associated with.
#3 - Jerrod Hull Motorsports is not sponsored by Guy Webb. The Webb Racing logo that you see on Jerrod Hull's car is there because of the support, loyalty, and friendship of a person named Dan Webb, who lives around the St. Louis area. The funny thing about this is that Dan Webb was in attendance in the JHM pits this past weekend at SFCR, and Jerrod even recognized him in his victory lane speech. I would suggest that if anyone has an issue with this that they take it up with Jerrod face to face and hear it from the man's mouth themselves, but, many coward because they want to continue to believe what they have formulated as "truth" in their own head. Call me a liar all you want, but you know exactly where to get the answer.
#4 – I am willing to work with other drivers not associated with the Midwest All Star Series. Some comment that I only work with drivers that run Mr. Webb's series. That is not true. The drivers that I help out via press releasing or sponsorship hunting are in fact drivers that run Mr. Webb's series, no question about that. I spent all of 2008 chasing the series and did not get a good chance to approach drivers from other series or tracks to get those drivers to agree to invest money in doing their press releases. The drivers I do work with, I have a long standing relationship with them. I have liked Ryan Bunton since his days of racing a 360 with the Sprint Invaders periodically. This past season I got to know Tyler Thompson both on and off the track, Tyler will not be racing many sprint car events anymore as we are concentrating efforts in another direction. I have been a fan of Jerrod Hull since 1999 and I have been working with him since 2002. I choose to work with these drivers and they choose to work with me not because of Mr. Webb, but because they know I am more than a person they write a check to at season's end, but because I am a fan of theirs.
The sad thing is that I can say these things and you still won't believe me, and that is fine, but I have given you places and opportunities here to clear the air. The other sad thing is that I am finding myself having to justify things to people that I don't even need to answer to. My business is my business, but since I am in the public eye and working with new people, I feel it is my responsibility to get things out in the open.
It seems to me that the only way that I can get certain people to understand that I am not with the series anymore is if I get on a message board and start slamming Mr. Webb publicly. What good does that do for the drivers who want to and choose to race his series? What good does that do for the fans that want to and choose to see his brand of racing? Besides, there is a little thing called libel that many posters ride the fine line of each and every time they make a post. Don't know what libel is? Look it up, I guarantee that other entities have already and have the means to follow action.
I have offered my assistance to many tracks, drivers, and series, none of which include Mr. Webb or the All Star brand, over the past few months. Some of those have come to agreements with me and I will be some small things with them. I would love to share some of those with you all, but at this point, those are things that are between me and my clientele.
