To say the Strange Motorsports team has had a rough start to the 2009 season would be an understatement. From a part failure to a driver error, the season has not been good so far. Billy Strange put in a solid qualifying effort at the Marysville Raceway Park opener and started on the frot row of his heat. That was followed by a part failure coming for the second lap that ended his night. The next race was the Golden State Challenge Series opener at Placerville Speedway. Billy Strange put in a solid qualifying effort and transferred his way into the A Main where he drove from 22nd to 16th in the powerful 410 field. The season point opener at Placerville Speedway saw Billy Strange turn in another solid qualifying effort of 16th. Starting on the front row he quickly settled into 2nd and started clicking off some of the fastest laps in heat race action. That all came to an abrupt stop on lap six while Billy was learning to run the cushion. He entered too high into turn one and flew over the top of the track where he slammed the outside wall and flipped, which ended the evening. Last weekend the Strange Motorsports team took on round two of the Placerville Speedway points championship. All night they chased the setup on the car and just could not find a setup that worked right. "We've just had an off start to the season. We've had some good runs. I'm learning to run the top of the track and I've made some mistakes. It's hard for my crew too because I'm definatley driving the car harder so they're kind of behind the eight ball.
