(APRIL 21, 2009, PERRIS, CA) After a month off, the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars will be back at their home track, Don Kazarian's famous Perris Auto Speedway, this Saturday night, April 25th. Joining the open wheel stars and their powerful cars will be the PASSCAR Street Stocks. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 7:00.
Saturday's race will be the third of 2009 at The PAS. 2004 SCRA and Non Wing World Champion "Super Rickie" Gaunt, of Torrance, captured the season opening Sokola Shootout main event on February 28th. One month ago, defending Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Series champion Mike Spencer, a 27 year-old Cal Poly Pomona Engineering graduate who resides in Temecula, defeated Riverside's David Cardey in thrilling last lap duel in the 30-lap feature race.
Gaunt, Spencer and Cardey will all be on hand this Saturday and they will face a stiff challenge for the glory from a familiar cast of fan favorites. Among the other top contenders expected to be in action this week will be recently un-retired 2007 USAC/CRA champion Tony Jones of Norco, two time Budweiser Oval Nationals champion Cory Kruseman of Ventura who won a main event last Saturday at King's Speedway in Hanford, soon to be National Sprint Car Hall of Famer and 2004 USAC/CRA champion Rip Williams of Yorba Linda, Santa Maria based star Danny Sheridan, Garrett Hansen of Manhattan Beach and Gaunt's Gardner Motorsports teammates Blake Miller of Yorba Linda and Tyler Brown of Norco.
In addition to the local stars, popular Plainfield, Indiana driver Bill Rose will be on hand this Saturday driving the David Miller #66 car. Last Saturday, Rose took the car to a second place finish in the main event at Victorville Auto Raceway.
Rounding out Saturday's doubleheader show will be the PASSCAR Street Stocks. Heading the list of entries will be Moreno Valley's Curtis Dietzsch. The two-time defending track champion, Dietzsch won the last main event on April 4th.
Saturday's racing will include qualifying, four ten lap heat races, a B main and 30 lap A main for the USAC/CRA Sprint Cars and two heats and a 20 lap main event for the Street Stocks.
