Tarlton Sprint Cars Show Strength in Tulare

By Gary Costa

Tulare, Ca. (April 11, 2009) – The Tarlton & Son, Inc., Racing Team would head for the Tulare Thunderbowl Raceway this past weekend. On the card for the evenings festivities were the Golden State Challenge Winged 410 Sprint Cars and the Bandit 360 Non-Wing Sprint Cars.

Tommy Tarlton would run in the GSC series in the Tarlton & Son, Inc., Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino, Shark powered No. 21 Maxim. Tommy qualified a disappointing 11th, but would rebound and finish 3rd in Heat 2. He would slide into his 11th starting spot for the main event. "Double-T" eventually took the checkered flag finishing in the 7th position

"We started the night out not quite how we wanted," said Tarlton. "But as the evening went on, the car got better. When the main event came around, the guys had the car really dialed in. It was tough to pass out there, but we did what we could."

Peter Murphy was scheduled to run the Rick Eberhardt owned No. 13 in GSC competition, but hurt the motor in hot laps, putting the car in the trailer for the night.

However, Murphy would bounce back and make the Non-Wing Bandit Sprint car race an exciting one. He would take the twin Tarlton & Son, Inc., Tachi Hotel Palace & Casino, Shark powered Maxim to 2nd place in Heat 2. Murphy then got in a hotly-contested duel with Danny Sheridan for the top-spot in the main event. The two drivers would go "all out" with Murphy eventually finishing 2nd to Sheridan.

"That was a great race!" said Murphy who hasn't finished out of the top-3 in 3 Non-Wing races. "Sheridan and I just went out there and laid it all on the line. I was trying my hardest to get 'em, but he was pretty good."

-Up Next! Peter Murphy will be racing this Friday night at Plaza Park Speedway in the Shaw Family 600. The following night, he will be seeking win No. 2 at Kings Speedway in West Coast 360 Non-Wing Sprint Car action. Tommy Tarlton will be back in action this upcoming Friday, for Round No. 2 of GLR 360 Winged Sprint Cars at Ocean Speedway.

In the recap, I failed to mention that Michael Faccinto finished 5th in Heat 3. He then placed 7th in the Bandit main event.
