I used to sit in the stands at Eldora with Bobby before the concrete pad days, those days were a blast. After I picked up a camera I saw less of Bobby unless we got rained out and then it was crazy time again. He then decided to pick up a camera as well and I don't think I've ever met anyone who worked harder at his new found passion, hell he even quit the factory and went back to school to study photography.
Even though living a half hour or so from the Big E and in the same town as the greatest paved sprint car track in history he decided he would go after the drag race market and off he went, a very tough call for such a big sprint car fan. It worked, when Bobby left us he was one of the best motorsports shooters, period! Assignments like shooting John Force's birthday party and the likes were commonplace for Bob, his work had become that recognized for excellence.
I am not versed with all the details of his passing but I do know he was still a young man and was the picture of health all the years I knew him. To his wife and children whom I only met a couple of times my condolences, Bobby was a great guy and I'll always cherish our good times. Take It Easy....
