Chad Kemenah leads wire to wire! His third career Outlaw win. Kinser second and Lasoski third, Lucas Wolfe and Jason Myers.

Sammy was running 2nd when he blew a right rear tire. Joey Saldana spins on lap 1 to bring out the caution. Donny Schatz spins on lap 2 for another caution. They finish 13th and 14th.

wow the locals really put up a fight at this one.....

errrrrr..........wait a sec.

If it wasn't for time trials.......outside the "hotspots" the WoO would only see about 4 checkered flags throughout the night.

A standing room only crowd. It's sad. Another famed track closes like Ascot. All the famous names that have graced the joint.

One of my best memories was a Western World that Bobby Davis won because Wolfgang, leading, didn't take off on the restart because he said the light was still yellow.

It's 1967, and we're sitting in the stands at Ascot watching the sprints with this wild eyed car builder, and he describes to us this car he's building in his garage .. He say's it's going to have a wing on the top, and you will be able to make that wing go up and down, and back forth for more traction and stability. It's going to have a wing on the front as well, to keep the front wheels down and more stability yet. He goes on to tells us some more of the other wild ideas he has for this car he's working on before he gets up and walks away. I said, Wow, that sounds like one bitchin Super Mod that guy's building, and you say..It sounds far out man, I wonder where he's going to race it?

Super Mod is not a bad word, and I do know one when it's described to me.

Kenny,

You always sound so bitter when it comes to winged sprinters, err, modifieds. Will you ever just watch and try to enjoy racing, with or without wings? I watch both and enjoy watching the bravest of them all show their craft.

My wife told me if I went to one more Sprint Car race
she would leave me.................I'm sure gonna miss
that ol' gal.

You must not pay much attention, or have seen not seen many of my post's. I can't remember how many winged races I've been to since they stuck them on, but it's a lot, and before they got them to this point, it was some good stuff. The Saturday show at Skagit back in the eighties was more than good for instance. The SCOA had some great show's here in AZ as well. Back in the late 90's and early 2000's loved seeing Ricky Hood in Joe's 45x both here and in N.M. All the slick 50's both years.. Should I go on? When they first started modifying sprinters they were much different than todays cars.. I've been around, and seen em run all over.. I'll tell you what, if they were my favorites, Id be pissed about what they have done to them, and it's not just the cost.

I love super mods my friend..Some of the best that ever ran were up there in the Pacific Northwest when I lived up that way..Ever heard of Rebel Jackson, both Jr and Sr, and that bunch. The twister and those type of cars when I was here (AZ) and at Ascot? If you ever saw them at the gathering of the clan ( maybe you did) days of the Copper World, you saw some of the best super mods ever..

It's not a slam, it's not a derogatory statement..It's just the truth.

Kenny

Bitter, hell no! Disappointed? You had better believe it.
