Bud Kaeding to drive Sala Racing 360 sprint car in ‘09
By Gary Thomas

Campbell, CA – March 23, 2009…Two-time USAC Silver Crown champion Bud Kaeding of Campbell, California has been selected to drive the Mike Sala/Brian Matherly co-owned No. 19 sprint car for the 2009 racing season.

The 29 year-old driver will compete in the Sala Racing No. 19 winged 360 sprint car with the GLR Investments weekly series at the Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, as well as at some of the bigger 360 events including the Pacific Sprint Fall Nationals at Silver Dollar Speedway and the Trophy Cup at Thunderbowl Raceway.

Last season Kaeding drove the Werbach Motorsports No. 20 sprinter at Ocean Speedway and finish in a tie for fourth in the track standings, despite missing a pair of events. He also brought home a fourth place finish at the prestigious Johnny Key Classic in August at the quarter-mile bullring.

For 2009 Kaeding is excited about running the Sala Racing No. 19 sprinter and hopes to put it at the front of the field each and every race he competes in. “I’m looking forward to running the 19 this season and hopefully we can get some wins and run consistently up front,” Kaeding said. “I had some success driving the sprint car for Mike earlier in the decade and I think we can get back to that this year.”

In addition to running the sprint car this year Kaeding will also run the Sala Racing midget in select events. Last season he drove the No. 19 midget in a trio of races and scored a pair of podiums and a fourth place finish in those outings.

The Sala/Matherly team will be running this season with support from Kaeding Performance; M&M Finishes located on Oakdale, CA; Paul Oil; Weldway Construction and Weldway Inc.

The team also gives special thanks to Kasey Kahne Racing and Willie Kahne.

This weekend will find Kaeding competing at the Placerville Speedway as he kicks off the 2009 Golden State Challenge King of California Series season aboard his own Kaeding Performance, BK Motorsports, Alviso Rock No. 29 sprinter. Last year Kaeding tallied a third place finish in the final standings with the traveling 410 sprint car series.

Is Bud running the entire GSC series this year? It was great having him last year and getting 3rd was a great accomplishment! Looks like he has a 360 and 410 ride for this season, but is he still doing the Silver Crown seires? Placerville should be packed this weekend so everyone should get there extra early wink

Looking forward to the new Golden State King of the
West series schedule!

Winged sprintcars = the fastest and most exciting
racecars on dirt!

He'll be running most of the schedule, but there are some conflicts so it doesn't look like he'll make all the races.

Make sure to check out the site everyone cause it's been updated and re-designed.
