I received this in an e-mail today from a friend in Woodland who is NOT a race fan but he knew I have been around the tracks. Who is old enough to remember Sherman? He was from Woodland too.

I remember Sherman very well, seen him at Stoga a few times also seen him race on the 1/2 mile at Champion Speedway located in Brisbane where it may have been a narc sanctioned race, i think it was in 1965 or early 66 and a lot of the CRA drivers where up here including the CRA champ Bobby Hogle. Cleveland and Hogle put on one heck of a race with Cleveland the winner.. Sherman was a very good driver although he was considered very aggresive and had a heavy foot, had he not lost his life at a young age he probably would have been considered among one of best ever from Northern California..
