Mark is going to a Sportmod this year and I bet he still wins.

The only thing that is different in Brills engine rules from IMCA rules is the valve size. He told me he did not want to change that becouse it would make most every one who ran last year build new heads to be leagual this year. So you wont race at Meeker becouse Brill is trying to save the racer money by not changing the engine rules every year.

I think if I was going to run just Meeker I would have me a Modified chassis (Chevelle frame-floater rearend-weight jacks-etc.) and the modified chassis as Crazydeke pointed out are alot cheaper. Mark Norwood won alot of features with one of these cars and if he would have been there every Saturday night he would have won alot more and won the championship by a ton. I wish Brill would have went with the IMCA motor rules. I hope he has a ton of cars for this class and I applaud him for having a couple of NCRA shows as we will be there for that. I also was glad to see that Brill did do some teching last year and if you won 3 features you had to pull a head and would allow fellow competitors to take a look. Last year at this time you could buy a top of the line motor from Jeffs Performance for around 3 thousand. This year a top of the line motor will run around 7 thousand. You could get a used chassis at a good price last year and now they are higher than some modified chassis. I just hope that this CHEAP class doen't outprice itself

Mark was the one I was talking about when I said that this driver was going to his daughters softball game instead of going to Brill's every weekend. He only raced when his daughter did not have a tourney somewhere. I am gald someone else saw it other than me that he was doing a good job covering the field.

I can tell you that Mark and his dad both do not go crazy on the spending budgets of their cars. They make sure the car runs and runs right. They stress set up and that is how is has been for the last 24 years I have known them.

I do agree the Quickchange is stupid I dont know what they were thinking. But If you are just running one track I dont think the Quickchange give you a advantage over the 9" yes you could change gear a few points from heat to feature. But the Quickchange is also heaver than the 9".

It dont matter if you agree with every rule Brill has. The thing with Meeker is you know what you are running against becouse they will tech the cars to make sure they are by the rules. It dont matter how many rules other tracks make if they dont make everyone stick to them or they dont check the cars every week you dont know what you are running against.

Your last paragraph is very true Colby. I do have to say Brill is very good about tech on cars.

Ok. Here's the deal about the quick change rule. Mark has this class for the sole purpose of people being able to buy older modifieds at a good price to race. It also allows us "A" Mod drivers a place to sell them. I was fortunate enough to sell my older but in good condition modified to a guy that didnt want to spend much to race. The quick change rule came in to affect because modifieds are now bein sold with them and it would force someone who wanted to race either not to buy that car or spend a few grand to get a 9 inch rear end. He's just trying to make it easy and affordable for someone to race.

Ya know crazy J D. This sport mod class should of been able to run older Mods but the powers to be said lets build a whole nother chassis and let each individual promoter screw it up. I sold my 2000 shaw car to some one out at Brill, it probably only had 50 races on it but because it was a 2 link and it wasnt as compititive with the 4 link stuff at some tracks in the Mod class it was almost impossible to sell. Earlier someone stated about the motors now costing $7000 grand for a Sport Mod and Lanny is letting 9 inches. You can let people chose any Chassis, with any rear end {LOCK DOWN} and tech your motor stuff and it would of had a better chance. but we wont buy one just because of the things that are going on right now, {or until the rule changes settle down} Brills rules are more racer friendly!
