The long awaited new book by Bud Hunnicutt will be coming off the presses around Dec.1st. With stories about Kansas City Auto Racing and 39 chapters about K.C.'s more memorable personalities and lovable characters, it will be 152 pages of amusing reading and almost 200 photos.

Look for Bud at the 1st Annual Twas the MIDGETS Before CHRISTMAS. For those ordering in advance there will be a book signing at which we hope to invite as many of the surviving 19 subjects as we can .

Bud has memories going back to 1937 and the days of the old Goldman Stadium (Now Satchell Paige Baseball Stadium) and Olympic Stadium, Riverside Stadium and the old Lakeside Speedway.

Featured are: Vito Calia, Ben Harleman, Carl Badami, Bob Slater, Carl Williams, Howard House, John Luteran, Charlie Kraft, Clyde Ellis, Bill Crane, Dale Moore, Jud McFarland, Wes Farrand, Dirty Art Dishinger, Ed Leavitt, Elmer Layne, Bill Chennault, Jerry Weld, Greg Weld, Kenny Weld, Taylor Weld, Jud Larson, Gordon Wooley, Jr.Hower, Ken Williams, Bob Williams, Larry Phillips, Gene Claxton, Gene Genneten, Jon Backlund, Ray Lee Goodwin, Terry Bivins, Tim Karrick, Thurman Lovejoy, Virgil Chapman and Bob Burns.

With the economy hurting, Bud only plans on printing 300 copies so getting in on this early is a good idea. The name of the book is "Up On The Wheel" and if you are interested you can contact Bud at 816-331-2220. This is a hard cover, quality production from the same publisher that Bob Mays uses. Let us know if you want in on this one !

My wife bought this book for me for a Christmas gift. We picked it up personally from Bud and his wife, Keet. They both have the gift of warm hospitality. It was a gift just to meet them. The book is great (not just good...I mean great)! A "must have" for anyone familiar with racing history from the heartland. You better hurry though. Their phone was ringing consistently with people interested in buying the book. A real treat. Better hurry if you are going to buy it...I imagine they are almost sold out by now.
