PLEASE SCROLL DOWN FOR IMPORTANT 2/2-2/13 UPDATES.

$60K Valentine’s Event Kicks Off Diverse ’09 Cowtown Speedway Season

12/4/08, DarinShort.com. What’s sure to go down as sweetheart of a 2009 racing season, Cowtown Speedway’s first date with the dirt in ’09 is with a major racing event Valentine’s Day weekend.

The first annual ‘King of the Hills’ Midget Championship joins the traditional February Fast 50 line up on February 13-14, 2009. The event also marks the season point’s opener for the Southern Midget Racing Series. The full-blown midgets will compete for $1,000 to win on Friday and $3,000 to win on Saturday. Each of their feature events will start 24 cars.

And Cupid’s arrow doesn’t just land there on Valentine’s weekend at Cowtown. The first ever visit of the ASCS2 Series will be on hand with the Winged Outlaw ‘Multi’ and Non-Winged ‘A’ classes (of what Cowtown fans know as the Winged 600’s, just without wings). With $1500 earmarked to win for each ASCS2 division, there’s sure to be full fields of top quality cars from throughout the region.

The always exciting Cowtown Modifieds will race 50 laps for $2,000 to win and the Limited Modifieds will be vying for the $1,500 winner’s share. Both features will start 24 cars.

With a staggering $60,000 weekend purse posted, another huge field of 200+ cars are expected. Drivers are urged to pre-register for this event at the track website on or before 2/7/09 to receive pre-entry discounts.

Pre-entry also allows you to receive a reserved parking space for your hauler in the pits. And it allows the track to publicize drivers that will be attending.

Wrapping up the weekend racing card will be a special Young Guns Shootout on Saturday night. Visit
www.YoungGunsShootout.com for all of the details.

Race fans, you can enjoy the entire weekend’s action by purchasing your 2-day tickets in advance at the track website by 2/11/09. 2-day adult grandstand passes are just $25, a savings of $5 off of race night pricing. This also would make a perfect Valentine’s gift for that 'special person' in your life.

Just click
www.CowtownSpeedway.com for the event flyer, driver pre-entry, advance 2-day passes, track information and more.

The new ’09 season schedule can also be viewed at the track website. 30 additional race dates are set beginning with the March 14th opener featuring the first of two visits for the Sprint Series of Texas and the first of eight visits for the LSDCC.com Dwarf Cars.

A huge fireworks display will be a part of the racing action on July 4, with Cowtown’s annual 9/11 Memorial event on September 12.

Other highlights include the popular ASCS Sprint Cars on April 4, May 16, June 27, August 22 and September 5.

This all builds up to the 2nd annual Cowtown Sprint Nationals October 9-10, which will be point’s races for the ASCS Sooner, Gulf South and Lone Star regions. Last year’s event had a whopping 49 sprint cars taking to the Cowtown high-banks. Further event details will be published when the racing season begins, but you can expect another huge purse and field of cars.

The ’09 season wraps up with the wildly successful and exciting 3rd annual November Sprint Shootout on November 13-14. Last year’s NSS saw 46 sprint teams from several sanctioning bodies and series invade Cowtown, and over 200 cars total competing throughout the weekend.

Make your first date in 2009 on Valentine’s weekend, and you’re sure to become a ‘steady’ with the Fastest Li’l Dirt Track in Texas, Cowtown Speedway!

Why can't SFS be this upbeat and active and exciting? Cowtown seems to be always rockin'.

Just a reminder that if you'd like to request a parking spot for this event, you must pre-register online.

There are also discounted pre-entry fees through February 7.

It's quite possible we'll hit the 200 mark for total car count again. And at the November Sprint Shootout it really helped Bo to help you in parking your tow rig by knowing who was coming in advance.

Plus, if you have a big rig, you're highly urged to pre-enter, as if you just show up, it's quite likely you will not be able to park with the other big rigs as concrete pads are in limited supply.

So please go to www.CowtownSpeedway.com and get pre-entered then you can email the track with your parking request at [email protected] - which will help make the weekend run as smooth as in November when we had over 130 drivers pre-enter and 209 cars roll through the pit gate.

And fans, don't forget, you can save money by purchasing your 2-day pass online by February 11 (2 days before the race, so we'll have a good idea of the weekend weather by then).

We're working our hardest to put together an action-packed and diverse schedule with fast-paced events that will make the fan's experience one that they'll want to return night after night...and at a great value for your entertainment dollar.

We're trying to bring back the days of fun, excitement and non-conformity to the 'packaged mold' that seems to have taken over a lot of dirt track racing.

Off the heels of the successful Cowtown Sprint Nationals and November Sprint Shootout, we hope that the weather will cooperate on Feb. 13-14 so we can have another weekend of great racing action, huge car counts and economical fun for the whole family.

And since the last race in November, stage 2 of the track reconfiguration project is complete; and now it's another 6 feet wider all the way around (which is about 15' more than in October) and the new infield track is ready as well. (The infield track won't be used until opening night in March.)

Let's go racing!

2/2/09, DarinShort.com. This bulletin contains the latest in news for race teams and fans for the upcoming Cowtown Midget Championships, February Fast 50 & ASCS2 Championships on Feb. 13-14.

This update is provided to you so that your racing experience at Cowtown will be as smooth (and fun) as possible; especially with the large amount of racing teams coming to this event.

RACE TEAMS:

- General information for all race divisions. If your team is coming to Cowtown, you need to preregister at the track website by Saturday 2/7. Then you can send an email to
[email protected] to explain your pit parking request, which will help to get you situated the best as possible. We will be staking parking spaces once again.

-Pit parking requests will not be accepted by unregistered teams.

-Pre-registering will also allow the track announcers to prepare your profile, which the race fans will greatly appreciate.

-Over 30 midgets have already pre-registered for this event! The pre-entry list will be published soon.

-ASCS2, Modifieds & Limited Modifieds have a preregistration discount available of $25. This online promotion is only available at the track website through 2/7.

-Over 40 ASCS2 teams have already preregistered for this event!

-Based on early registration numbers, we anticipate a total car count in excess of 200; which could easily eclipse the track record of 209 at last year’s November Sprint Shootout.

-Pre-registering also provides the race track office your information to prepare your pay card in advance. This small step will save you large amounts of time waiting in the pit line on Friday night by not having to fill out forms when you get to the pit window. The more teams pre-enter, the faster the line will move; so we highly encourage you to pre-enter.

RACE FANS:

-Advance 2-day grandstand passes are currently available online for $25. This online promotion is available now through 2/11 at the track website (2 days before the event).

SPECIAL START TIMES:

-Thursday, 2/12; 5pm-9pm Practice Night. Plus, registration for drivers not pre-entered. Pre-registered drivers can pick up their pay cards so you will not have to wait in a second line at the pit window on Friday night. You must have a pay card to draw in all race divisions. Pit passes are $20 and the main grandstand is closed due to insurance regulations.

-Friday, 2/13; Qualifying Night. Pits & Grandstands Open at 4pm, Hot Laps at 6:30pm and Races Start at 7pm. (Note: normally 2-day races start at 8pm on Friday, so make sure you note this change.)

-Saturday, 2/14; Championship Night. Pits & Grandstands Open at 1pm. Hot Laps at 3:30pm and Races Start at 4pm.

MORE EVENT DETAILS:

-For complete event details, including online registration, 2-day advance passes, purse structure, directions, ticket/pit prices and much more; please click
www.CowtownSpeedway.com and we look forward to kicking off the 2009 race season with you at the Cowtown Midget Championships, ASCS2 and February Fast 50!

dmantx - you do a damn good job at what you do. and Bo does a damn good job promoting that track.

been the best promoter in the entire REGION in the last couple years. Cowtown is the Oshweken of the South. just cant say enough good things about it/them.

except that because of the newly formed "Lone Star" Region - i highly doubt that any OK tracks will see many DFW racers. sure when they are points races ------- but vice versa too - not sure how many okies will go run down there. I hope it all works out.

that Lone Start Region could be really good - anchored off the best track int he whole region - the north texas area could be really bangin' this year!

we are hoping to make this race - crossin our fingers for wednesday - as then we will get a good preliminary look at the 10 day forecast wink

And more drivers pre-entered yesterday, including one of the hottest Outlaw Winged 600 driver in the world*, Arkansas's Travis Senter.

* I say that because he just won the Australian Winged 600 title in January plus he's won the I-30 600 Nationals 2 of the past 3 years. Laughing

We'll update the list again around Monday, after the pre-entry discount promo ends on Saturday night.

2/5 A.M. UPDATE:

Yesterday, entries kept rolling in and we have just crossed the 150 car mark for pre-entries to this Valentine's Day weekend event.

One noteable entry yesterday was Sam Hafertepe Jr. He has pre-entered his familiar number 15h...but we're not racing sprints. This time he'll be racing a new car in the open modified division.

There are even more browraising new entry twists and turns flying around, and when they become 'official' we will post them.

And the 10-day forecast just came into play, hopefully the dry trend forecasted will not change. It's going to be cool at night, but just come prepared, and you'll be fine for a great weekend of racing - - - and at an economical price:

Fri (OPENING NIGHT, hot laps 6:30, races at 7pm) Feb 13

The pits are already filling up fast, as more than 170 drivers have pre-registered for what's turning into a huge Valentine's Day weekend event at Cowtown Speedway.

Here's the latest updates:

-45 midgets have now sent in their race registration
-Multiple drivers are racing multiple divisions, so it should be a wild show.
-NOTE: we are going to have a special procedure in place for those drivers, we will announce it next week; as we will not be slowing down the program.
-You are urged to pre-enter then email [email protected] with your tow rig information, so we can try to get you pitted the best possible.
-If you are unable to pre-enter by today, you still will be at the track website through Tuesday. But it will be at the regular entry price.
-You can also pre-enter at the track on practice night Thursday, or you can enter when you arrive at the track on Friday. Just keep in mind that you may not get to park where you'd like.
-Weather update: there has been no change in the forecast at this point. The forecast is for 60's all three days, mostly sunny and dry. Nighttime lows around 40.
-We will publish the pre-entry list again early next week with all of the latest entries.
-If you are under 18 and plan to go in the pits: YOU MUST fill out the MANDATORY minor release form located on the track website.
-FANS: You can still purchase advance 2-day grandstand passes on the track website through Thursday.

THANK YOU to all of the teams that have taken the time to pre-enter. This will allow the announcers to do a better job keeping fans informed; plus it will greatly speed up the pit line on Friday night.

An autograph session will be held from 3-3:30pm under the track grandstand on Saturday. There you can meet J.J., get his autograph, and even purchase team apparel. The races start at at 4pm.

Joining J.J. in the autograph session will be fellow USAC standout, Bryan Clauson of Noblesville Indiana. Bryan recently picked up the $10,000 to win “Twas The Midgets Before Christmas” indoor event championship in Kansas City. He will be piloting the #39h midget sponsored by Bryan Clauson Racing/All Star Performance/DMI/Gaerte Racing Engines, owned by Cory Tucker Racing. Bryan also drives for Earnhardt Ganassi Racing and competes in select NASCAR Nationwide series events.

There will be live remote driver interviews broadcast on the track PA system by ‘Big Chris’ Wright as well. Make sure you arrive early so you don’t miss out on all of the extra off-track action.

32-year-old Yeley picked up his first victory in a non-winged sprint car in 1995 in Chico, CA. From there he became the USAC Rookie of the Year in 1997. In 1998 he finished 9th in the Indy 500 after running a limited schedule with the Indy Racing League. Returning his focus to open wheel racing, Yeley won his first USAC Sprint Car championship in 2001. In 2002, he won the USAC Silver Crown Championship.

In 2003, J.J. reached a record only duplicated by Tony Stewart (in 1995) by winning all three USAC titles (Sprint, Midget and Silver Crown) all in the same season. During that year, he also broke the single-season USAC win record, previously held by A.J. Foyt.

Yeley was chosen to drive a limited NASCAR Busch series schedule in 2004, which led to a full-time driving contract with the Joe Gibbs Interstate Battery NASCAR Sprint Cup series team in 2006 and 2007. And 2008, he continued with the NASCAR Sprint Cup series with the #96 DLP sponsored Hall of Fame Racing team based in the D/FW area.

In 2009, you will find Yeley competing at various NASCAR Camping World Truck and Nationwide series events, with plans to hit as many sprint and midget events as possible. Next weekend you can catch him in action at the USAC sanctioned Copper on Dirt event at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix, Arizona.
