Is this Bob Shryock or one of the Eggersdorfs? I had the slide labeled as Shryock, but after 28 years I am not sure.

This photo was from 1980 taken at a big show in Davenport.

Slammer was always 3e so my guess would be Shryock but we'll have to call in the expert. I'll send him an email.

I took a quick look at the photo Stan and my first impression was Steve Egersdorf. Steve sometimes had a purple body on the yellow frame. Steve raced car #3. The "x" on the car might very well have been due to the fact that there was another #3 car already signed in ahead of him. I will check some 1980 results and see if I can find the Davenport race. Would have helped to know the month the race was run. I kind of remember Slammer having a car that looked similar to the one in the pic. His brother Rick also had a purple #5 car with a yellow frame back around the 1980 era give or take a year or so.

I found one big show at Davenport back in June 1980. It was a 100 lap race run on a Sunday afternoon due to a rain out the previous night. Rodney Combs led all 100 laps enroute to the win in the first race in a four race series termed the Iowa State Dirt Track Championship. If this photo was taken that day, it likely could not have been Bob Shryock. Bob won the feature race on Sunday night over at the Buena Vista County Raceway in Alta that same day.

Yes, I did take the photo in June of 1980 at the afternoon show in Davenport, so that settles that issue.

Thanks so much.
