The
sprint car racing community sends out its deepest sympathy to Dorothy Lee of
Corning, CA.Her husband Dave passed
away Thursday night while working in his shop located next to his house in
Corning.Dave and Dorothy Lee have been
life long race fans and recently started up their first sprint car team during
this past summer.Owners of Double D
Customs, the couple proudly displayed the #4d sprint car this year. The car spent most of the year racing at
Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico.They
started off with Kevin Sharrah as the driver.During the Gold Cup Rae of Champions, they hired Mike Henry. Most recently, Chico’s Stephen Allard was
the driver. It was Allard who gave them
their first win this season at the Cotton Classic in Hanford. The team also finished a respectable seventh
place in the Trophy Cup.“We lost a
great guy for racing who was not only a fan but an excited new car owner,” said
Stephen Allard.Fellow friend Johnny
Gray added, “Dave would stop by our race shop all the time and he was just a
great guy to talk with.It was cool to
see how excited he was to become involved as a car owner in our sport.”The funeral is scheduled for Tuesday in
Corning.

Oh wow this is tough news to hear. I just remember the excitement everyone had after that win in Hanford, it may have been a rough night for most, but to see the smiles on everyone's faces after the race was a lasting memory for myself from this year.
Best wishes to Dave's family. It was nice to see a new team come out this year and can't thank them enough for giving Stephen an opportunity at the end of the season to get some races in.
It was also great for Stephen to get in a good car and I also remember after he flipped in hot laps at the Fall Nationals, that even though the car was toast, their main worry was that Stephen was ok and I think that shows the kind of people they are and the kind of owner Dave was.
