If you do your homework I think you will find Wesmar Racing Engines are the most consistent winners and front runners for the ASCS series nation wide. If I could they are who I would use.

Gaerte Engines is a top performer in MI, Ohio and Ontario, Canada for ASCS 360's. www.gaerteengines.com
As you can see everyone has a differnet view. I say contact several engine builders and discuss what you want in a motor, how much you are going to run, and where you are going to run. Whoever you think gives you best information and you are comfortable with go with them. I know Gaerte usually has a few motors on-site with a few shows on them that he sells below market value, actually at a steal in my book. These are the same motors that are put into outlaw teams for the Ollies races or ones ran in MI.

I say go to your local reputable machine shop and sit down with them to design an engine package to your liking and BUDGET. I dont understand spending $30,000 plus for a 360 engine. You can buy the parts alone for a fraction of that cost and then you also dont have to pay the engine builder markup. Dont get me wrong it takes skill to machine, mockup and assemble a good running motor but paying for a name alone makes zero financial sense. There will be those who say otherwise but I honestly do not believe you need an Ott, Wesmar, Shaver or any other brand name to be competitive. Do your homework and work closely with a local shop, its good for your local economy and you'll have someone you can work directly with instead of just being another customer waiting in line to fill an engine builders pocket. I have seen 360's built for around $15,000 that can run with any brand name motor. Careful planning and part purchasing is the key and by all means use a patient skilled assembler or do it yourself if your skills are up to par. In my opinion grass roots sprint car racing has gotten completely out of control money wise due to $30,000-40,000 ready to run motors. If we want to grow sprint car racing at its roots we need racers building their own stuff again, otherwise be prepared to open your wallet and go broke. I would rather watch full fields of cars with $15,000 home grown power plants than watch partial fields of $30-40,000 crate motor sprints.
Cheers!
