Michael Burba was injured during the Ford Focus Midget Race at Ventura Raceway, October 25, 2008.
Michael’s status as of 10/28/08
Michael remains in intensive care. The doctors are keeping him medicated eliminate any movement, allowing his brain to heal. He has a broken eye socket, which will require surgery. On Monday, he was taken off the ventilator and is breathing on his own. This is very good news.
Keep Michael in your thought and prayers.

I spoke with Michael's Mom "Donna" today. Michael is doing Very well now. He is alert and the ventilator tube is being removed. They are starting to prep him for a move to Kaiser Hospital in Anaheim very soon. She said that a surgery will be performed to make repairs to his eye socket, but the great news is that there is no eye damage. Keep him in your thoughts and Prayers. We will keep you posted on his recovery.
Thx CS

Michael has been transferred to Kaiser Hospital of Anaheim in the critical care unit. He has been taken off the drugs which kept him asleep and is now awake, although groggy. Doctors are evaluating the damage to his eye socket to determine if surgery will be required.
Michael's family thanks everyone for the prayers and positive thoughts.

I have been following the posts about young Michael Burba. Scary stuff, this has been heavily on my mind and in my heart even though I don't know the young man. From the reports I thought of Page Jones. Heart wrenching...
I am thankful for his partial recovery and continued prayers for a full recovery.
I look forward to meeting him some day. It is tough enough when anyone gets hurt. It seems to get magnified when it is someone just beginning his contribution to the world.

It just show's you don't have to be on a big 1/2 mile to get hurt. Cole Peard a kid from California was hurt in a Midget at Manzy on the 18th. His injuries included collapsed cells in both lungs and multiple contusions. He spent some time in the ICU but was released on the afternoon of the 20th and then he returned to California with his family.. He is expected to make a full recovery and he is already asking his parents to build another car.
Kenny
Oh by the way, Jerry Coons Jr won the race driving the #1 Yeley Midget.
Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.

Great new Wrench, thank you for keeping us posted. I, too, have been worried about this young man that I have never met and hope nothing but a full recovery for him.
