I saw a 30-sec clip on Speed Report of the Saturday finals at the Short Track Nationals. It appeared to me that the the drivers were basically running on the bottom at about 3/4 throttle. I was not able to go over there from OKC this year. As far as the Saturday finals are concerned, maybe I didn't miss much. Last year, my impression was that Thursday and Friday, and the first half of Saturday were great. The last half of Saturday was run on a track that was progressively harder and harder to pass on due to lack of traction. I cannot understand why the track on Saturday cannot be adequately watered and prepared. I think the fans would APPRECIATE a delay after all the heat races to re-work the track for the "second half". I bet Lanny Edwards would re-work the track after all the heat races if he was the promoter. Comments?

The bad part of it all is the fact that OKC could EASILY have this type of race. With the paved pits and plenty of parking, it would be great. The only problem is that with Lanny, the track would still see no passing. It would be so locked down heavy there wouldn't be any passing either. Either way I will make the trip back to Little Rock next year. The atmosphere was that of Knoxville and I had a great time.

Lanny would fix the track? He doesn't do that at the Devil's Bowl. The Chili Bowl is the only place that does that. Okay - Bo Rowdon really tries to keep the track right at Cowtown - but even there the track sometimes goes dry. At least at the Short Track Nationals the track was dry all the way from the bottom to the top and the cars were still using all of the track. Not as good as I've seen in the past - but still interesting. This type of racing is more intense.
And - it was great to see so many friends and meet new ones. If you dressed right the weather wasn't a problem. If you took advantage of the pre-ticket prices then the price was right.
Hopefully the races at Cowtown Nov. 7 & 8 will have good weather. Too early to know now. Good track and they try harder. A few changes to the track. I hope it's still a great 1/4 mile track. They've made it wider, as I understand it.
I will definitely be back for the Short Track Nationals next year.

When you put close to 90 cars on a track for hot laps and racing you aren't going to get the same than when they only have 45 or so on the qualifiying nights. Considering, I thought it was a pretty good track. Only way to change it would be to cut cars or take an hour or so and re do the track. Also after shaking down the field you usually get the faster cars to the front of the feature which also lends to less passing.

This was my sixth STN's and I've seen the track much much heavier at the start of Sat. nights racing that what it was last weekend. There was some rubber being put down in turn 4 during hotlaps so I figured it would eventually end up being a rubber down surface if they didn't work it. I don't know why they didn't take just a few minutes to do some prep before the say the B's.
I'll be back next year if I can help it at all because it is a good time down there but I knew of quite a few people both fan and competitor wise that made their first trip there over the weekend and I can't help but think that there were dissed with the racing.

Heats were ok,feature was pretty average. Not every track is Tri State Speedway with their track grooming equipment, although I wish there were more like Tri State.
What was "LC" again??
