Wonder how many years it's been since Kinser has run without the wing. Well, word on the street in Az says he'll be running the Western World Championships at Manzanita Speedway, the weekend after the World Finals. Guess he was at practice night last Wednesday (at Manzy) and will be back out this Wednesday for another practice session.

Bet he ain't forgot how.
I remember the 3 crown jewels of the sprint car world were the Knoxville Nationals, Western World at Manzy, and the Pacific Coast at Ascot. What are they today? Knoxville Nationals, King's Royal, and Chico Gold Cup?

Pretty sure the King won a non-wing race at Eldora back in 1990...

Actually, I believe Steve Kinser's last race without a wing was the CRA's debut at Eldora Speedway on May 5, 1990 (thanks to openwheeltimes.com for the date reminder). He won that night, too.

I don't know the wingless cars are alot faster than they were back then, and the regular wingless guy are just plain luniticks.(in a good way)

I have a hard time believing Steve will tow from Charlotte all the way to Manzanita, unless there is some incentive. If he is doing it, it obviously has to be with some other car owner.

Maybe Keith Kuntz. He drove a midget for him at the Chili Bowl.

I was at the last scheduled practice on Tuesday October the 7th at Manzy. Which was the last scheduled practice. No Steve Kinser sighting. There is also a practice scheduled for tomorrow night the 21st at Manzy. I will be there. Practice nights are always on Tuesday nights at Manzy. The only way it could have happened on a Wednesday is if the track was rented. I am a huge Steve Kinser fan and would love to see it. But doubt the rumor.

I never said he was at Manzy on Oct 7th or that he will be there on Tuesday the 21st.
I was told he was there on Oct. 15th. and will be there on Wednesday Oct 22nd. I will be going by the track on Wednesday to see if is true. I'll tell ya what, if the King does not run the Western, I'll buy a photo off of you. (If you could take one of Tony Stewart hot lapping the Victory Jucntion #20 Late Model during intermission) If the King runs the Western, I get a freebe. (Of the King of course!)
Practice nights are not 'ALWAYS' (scheduled) on Tuesday nights. I have had Thursday November 13th marked on my calendar for awhile....
Well, if the King runs the Western, I will still buy a photo of Tony Stewart in the Late Model.
I totally agree with what someone said above: 'Bet he aint forgot how.'

Hope the rumor turns out to NOT be a rumor for the fans at Manzy. Regardless what car SK gets into He'll be a bearcat to the last lap. Who in any racing series will ever end up with a winning record like SK in our lifetime? Keep your fingers crossed Manzy fans!
Take Care

i was 11 at the CRA race steve won... it's one of my earliest sprint memories... i sit in row 10 section b, about every time i am at eldora, they're about the 1st row under the roof to the left of the flag stand... well... a car got upside down and landed inside the fence... nothing too out of the ordinary... except for the big flying metal thing that landed in about row 5 (i.e. 5 down from the top) as it whizzed over my over head... or maybe the light pole... it landed in row 11... i.e. approx. 1 inch in front of me... my dad and uncle, they had many years sprint watching so...they of course bailed... and forgot me... i almost pissed myself... it is clear as day... there was probably a 3-4 hour delay to repair the fence and the lights... i think everyone in the stands was helping... i "helped" my dad carry the light pole from the barn and my unlce, who's an electrician, helped with the wiring... while scary it was cool... i went to a lot more races after that...lol...
i remember that a lot clearer than the race... i dad made a big deal about them wheeling steve's car out and taking the wing off... and steve had to pass a lot of cars in the feature i think... i was kind of young to know what was going on, maybe it was lapped cars...but he passed a shit-ton of cars that night...
I wish Earl still did Eldora's track prep.

I just got a call from someone that said indeed the track had been rented out on the 15th for a Hoosier tire test. So who knows. Might be true. And Arizona dirt I phrased the Tuesday nights thing wrong. What I should have said is that generally practice nights are on Tuesdays unless scheduled and or the track has been rented.

I have a hard time believing he will risk taking the beating of a non-wing crash and catching a bad case of racing arthritis at his age. He's got my respect if he shows up at Manzy.

Seeing the King run one more time without the wing one more time would be PRICELESS!!
I am going to ask him myself (if he is and what/whos car), next week at the World Finals in Charlotte. I did read on another board that Sammy is also gonna be running the Western as well....I have no clue on that one.
tkaphoto- I'd like to get with you about those photos. Couple of your photos will make for a good Xmas present.
