Once again, where can I find a complete list of dirt tracks & series that run winged 410 sprint cars. This is for the below contest:
CONCORD, N.C. — Oct. 8, 2008 — If you want to be the one credited with developing the new points system for DIRTcar Racing’s 410 Sprint Car division, time is running out. DIRTcar officials will examine the entries and a winner will be honored during festivities surrounding the Vault World Finals at the end of the month.
The goal is to develop a regional and national point system that rewards participation in racing at a weekly track without penalty for competing in a series event. It also must reward drivers for competing in regional 410 Sprint Car series. The division is about tracking points over the course of a season, not only on a race night. And Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series events are not eligible for the point system.
The regional points should cover tracks running 410 Sprint Cars weekly in the Western, Midwestern and Eastern regions of the country. The point system should award regional champions, one of which will be crowned the national Mr. Sprint Car.
To be eligible, a driver must compete in a minimum of 16 events, with a blend of special events.
If you’ve always believed you had an idea for a Sprint Car points system, now is the time to unveil it. E-mail your plan to [email protected] .

Is this Winged 410's only? It doesn't specify in that press release. At least not that I see.
Winged 410 Tracks

Lakeville, OH
Hilltop Speedway Millersburg, OH
Skyline Speedway Stewart, OH
Millstream Speedway Findlay OH (supposed to run approx. 10 race sched. in 2009 ?)
Mercer, PA (I think they still run 410's weekly?)
What about any of the Arizona tracks?

Morgan County Speedway in Jacksonville IL is considering returning to winged 410's in 2009.
Benton Raceway Park in Benton MO ran winged 410's in 2007 and 2008 but closed their track after the MASS All-Star (read Guy Webb) bad check debacle in August. There has been nothing released if or when they will reopen and what classes they will run.

Don't they run weekly 410's at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, WA? I could be wrong.

There is no way this will ever work without some sort of weighted point system by region. "The point system should award regional champions, one of which will be crowned the national Mr. Sprint Car." So this year Danny Smith is clearly the Mr. Sprint Car winner because he won 25+ races this year. By that standard is he more deserving of the title than a guy who had multiple wins in Central PA or Knoxville against stiffer competition? I'm not knocking anyone here - but this attempt to answer what the ASCS or UMP does is never going to work until rules limit the 410's even further (into obliveon) to equalize the spending and the competition between regions. Winged 410 sprint cars are NOT created equal. Certain regions have higher budgets and higher levels of competition. Am I crazy or am I the only one who sees it this way? Did I miss something here? Weighted averages are the only way this can make sense and good luck making a point system that is fair and doesn't p*ss people off from coast to coast. I'm not sure why this is needed, but I am anxious to see how it works out.

Please start at the top of the thread and read everything slowly. They are looking for suggestions on how to do it. They did not rule out weighted averages. Maybe I will suggest that and be the winner of the contest.

Danny Smith has 23 wins this year and you say he CLEARLY Mr. Sprint Car but I disagree with you. Check the stats. Mark Dobmier has 25 wins. He in my opinion is Mr Sprint Car 2008. Of those wins they include Knoxville...which is the premier 410 track in the country.

WoO14 - thanks for reminding me about Mark...yeah he wins and that is the point I was making about how it DOES matter WHERE you rack up all the wins. But my point is still the same that this would be nearly impossible to track fairly. sprintfanatic - if you can come up with a system that uses my weighted average idea and you win...you are welcome.

Yeah but I don't think it is about crownng a "best sprint car driver" in the nation. It is about encouraging guys to get out to as many sprint car races as possible, and for those guys that run 100 races a year like a Mark Dobmeier or Lucas Wolfe (last year), why not give them a Mr. Sprint Car crown. Does Mr. Sprint car necessarilly have to be the best driver, or the guy that devotes his time to racing as often as possible. That is what it is to be Mr. Sprint Car to me. We know the Schatzes and the Kinsers are the best, but what about the guys like Danny Smith or Mark Dobmeier, they deserve to have a shot at having some kind of title for the efforts week in and week out. That is what a Mr. Sprint car award should represent.

Then maybe ALL drivers should get a participation trophy at the end of the season instead of crowning one Mr. Sprint Car. I'm just sayin'...............

I don't know how it will all be worked out, but the concept of it all sounds pretty good to me. The goal here is to get more 410 sprints racing isn't it? Almost anything is better than the current system. Most of the winged races I attend are in IL or IN and I can guarantee you the midwestallstars are not the answer to bring back the 410 winged cars in these areas. Any effort to bring back 410 WEEKLY racing sounds great to me.

Then check out my new concept for my local tracks for 2009: www.fastondirt.com My theory is track promoters need to work together and quit bickering about each other and find a way to help each other out on a weekly basis. United we stand, divided we fall.

This is a fresh concept with lots of potential. Sprintcars in general need help and this may well be the thing to do it. This should be a great opportunity for the local racer, promoters, and fan. I'm sure next year I will make a few of these races, this really sounds interesting to me. Now for the BIG question, does your old boss Webb have anything to do with it? If so,you're already behind the 8 ball!

You have local tracks that participate in the points program. Then you have regional and/or national special shows.
Local track points are based upon averages ..... but must have some minimum number of events. Teams that compete at multiple "local track" events will be combined and averaged.
Points should awarded bottom up not top down. As an example a track has 50 sprint cars the 50th place gets 1 point and the winner gets 50. If a track has 10, last place gets 1 and first gets 10. That will help create the weight based upon the number of competitors.
Regional and or national shows are heads up ......
