Mr President,
Your Vice-Pres will be at the Ovals in rare form as I have not been to a race in three months
I will be riding my new Dyna FatBob down from Ventura maybe we could have a Oval Nationals Bike run to help raise some more money
Just a thought

Distribution? Who knows???
Why? After the Kazarians announced a purse cut for the Ovals, several fans and posters decided to collect funds to replace the cut in the purse. While a very noble thought, I have mixed emotions about this...like, Are the Kazarian's/Perris going to cut the ticket prices and pit gate fees by 30%(the purse cut) for the fans' and the crews'?
Will the collected funds be distributed equally to ALL participants, or will they be awarded to A Main competitors?
And why do fans feel the need to "add" to the posted purse?; I get that they love the sport, and wish to help the competitors out, but isn't that making it easier and more likely that the Kazarians will cut the purse again, in the future? Again. I'm not saying that they will, but as long as the fans pay the "extra" money, why should anyone else?

You make a good point #25 and I can't really make an argument for the track. I can only add that it's a group of fans that love sprint car racing and want to do something for the racers (but, I think you knew that already). As to where the money will be distributed, I think that most of us (speaking for myself only) have agreed to let Ralphie and Turn4Rob decide how they want to handle the funds. And I am good with that!
K. Kierce after all your remarks about Ralphie's pot - you don't know? Can't remember? Its a loooonnnng way to Perris. Better stop for some Butterfingers.

Hey Guy's
Turn 4 and I&few other people will talk this over and make it known how we will spread it out.
There was a chance for a non qualifers race after the Bmain--but the money isn't there yet.
We will get together on the 18th and then post it .

I have thought some more on what you posted #25 and I believe that the Kazarians are honest business people and as far as your suggestion about cutting future purses (an honest assumption on your part) I think it more a sign of the times. My question to you would be - have the Kazarian's ever done anything underhanded in the years that the PAS has been in operation to warrant any suspicion? I don't think so, but I could be wrong. For the price of the three day show ($65?) I don't see how a fan can really go wrong. Obviously I am only looking at it from a spectator point of view. The National guys, Norcal and Arizona drivers and teams plus the CRA regulars and throw in some VRA, Bandit and Victorville teams and you have a great three nights of racing. Then you have the best racing facility on the west coast and maybe the nation. It is a tough three nights on the teams though. Not trying to be argumentative but only looking at things in a different way.

While I'm not accusing the Kazarian's of anything, I'd let someone who has dealt with them decide if they've done anything underhanded, ever. Maybe you should be directing that question to Ron Shuman....

As you know there are always two sides to a story. I am sure both Shuman and the Kazarians have different tales to tell concerning the SCRA. And I know that you are not making accusations but simply putting forth some random thoughts. Be well...

Since the PAS lost considerable sponsorship money
for the Oval Nationals and had to lower
the purse, maybe they could run a 50-50 contest
for the next race on the 18th and all
three nights of the nationals to help boost the
purse.
Distribute the proceeds' equally to everyone that
doesn't make the main?

Going back to about 1991-1995 there was a ton of complaining that someone needed to "fix" the void after Ascot closed. Then them damn Kazarians came along and took millions of dollars (not just ten's of thousands but MILLIONS) and built a race track with money that they could have FOOLISHLY spent on something like income property etc. And then they came up with the crazy idea of a big race to attract racers from all over the country for the local so cal fans to enjoy. I can't believe them Kazarian bastards have admitted that the economy is in a little bit of trouble way before the federal goverment has informed us that the reason, well you get the picture and if you don't, stop reading at this point. So here we have such short memories that after Perris came along and has so far given us over 10 years of top notch short track racing were gonna kick em in the teeth for cutting back the purse instead of cancelling the race all together. I say what the hell, why don't we just build our own race track and put Perris out of business all together, how about let's build one right in the middle of Beverly Hills. Who wants to be the first to put up about 25 million in small change?

What do I look like an idiot - don't answer that question! First off I don't personally know Ron Shuman and therefore would have no business asking him such a thing. And if I did ask that question of the man, he would have every right to tell me to "go f___ myself. And I couldn't blame him if he did.

I am just an outsider looking in. I live up above Sacramento and have a long love of sprint car racing. I rarely attend a race in the north state as we have them winged things up here. But I have been making the journey to the Ovals now for many years. The facility is the finest race plant I have ever been to. The track is wonderful, the lighting is fantastic, and the announcer is one of the finest there is, he makes the evening better than just some good racing. You should feel very blessed to have the PAS!
I would have to think that most of the the deal with the purse reduction is the big unknowns of this mess we are in with the upside down economy. I have always felt that the Kazarians are people that care about their fans, the racers as well as thier business. And we must keep in mind that they face the biggest risks of anyone in the equation as far as money is concerned. If they put on a show and nobody shows up, the are out big time. I can totally understand them taking a somewhat conservative roll in the guaranteed purse. I have not seen it anyhwere that says that if all three nights are full house that they are not planning on paying out more. But I can say that the past several Ovals have seen some pretty thin stands for the Thursday night program. Now I do not fault anyone for that, I see that it is a bitch to get around in that part of the state on a commute night and I am there as a racing vacation, so I do not have to fight traffic and such. But look at the NASCAR Cup races lately, empty stands and this is surely a result of the economy and the effect it is having on the average race fan. So I see no reason to fault the Kazarians for being conservative, hell they are still putting on great race events at a first class facility so let's just think positive and hope for the best.
I know I will be there, tickets already purchased, and motel already booked. I cannot wait for the green flag.

Amen To That..... We really are lucky To have 3 great race tracks within our reach.. VictorVille, Perris, And Ventura.. we get a little spoiled down here.... There is other places than this that have the same thing going on.... But not too many... I myself tend to bitch about little things... However its the little things in life that count.... besides what would we all do if there was no USAC, or Perris. no Ventura, No Bandits, No Victorville around... I would go crazy for one and probly spend alot more money on traveling to other places that support Sprint Cars... This whole economy is indeed due for a little turn around.... hey gas is almost 2.99 in some cities... This is out to the Kazarians... Thanks for going to extra mile to put on some of the best dirt slingin for the year... I look forward to this every year... And Alot Of Fun It Is... I just wish I could win the lottery and help out with racing more than I am able to at this point....
Everyone is a little Crazy in their own unique way...
Its the one's who Don't think they are Crazy you have
to Look Out For!!!!

JD, Can you please explain why you continue to bang down the PAS, and talk about Ventura like it is some kind of paradise for sprint cars? Last race PAS had 37 cars, almost 20 of them have won a race at Ventura and could on any given night, on the other hand the last race at Ventura had 22 cars, about 2 of them could be considered a top 5 finisher at Perris. There must be some kind of agenda on your part to justify your continued digs for the last 5 years, did they refuse to give you a front row seat? Where you charged for admission? Were you in line for a pizza and they ran out? What gives? You mention Irwindale, the last sprint car race there I think they had 25 cars... not such a big deal if you ask me. Give it a rest.
