Mason Moore signs on to become driver of F&F Racing No. x1 for 2009 season

By Gary Thomas

Sacramento, CA – October 1, 2008…The Friends & Family Racing team is proud to announce that Princeton, CA’s Mason Moore has been officially selected to take over the helm of the No. x1 sprint car for the 2009 racing year where the youngster will compete for the California Civil War Series championship, in addition to running weekly at the Placerville Speedway.

F&F Racing co-owner Steve Tuccelli is excited about the new partnership with Moore and has been very happy with the performance during the first pair of outings. “Myself and Alan Bradway are elated to have Mason driving for us and feel he is a very good fit for our team,” Tuccelli said. “Mason is young & talented, very polite and a joy to be around, making him the type of person we want to have representing Friends & Family Racing on the track and in the pits. The Moore’s are a great family and just plain good people as well so we’re excited about next year.”

Foresthill’s David Robinson Jr. drove the F&F Racing machine to begin the season, but had decided to step down and go back to trying to help further his son Ryan’s racing career. The driver known as “Powerfeed” captured the prestigious Al Hinds Memorial earlier this year, but following that win had a spell of bad luck, which made it hard to recover from. “After we won the Al Hinds it seemed like nothing could go right and we got behind a bit and it forced us to sit out,” Tuccelli commented. “We just want to thank David for all his years of support because he’s a great friend and the original driver that helped mold this team into what it is today.”

In addition to driving the Friends & Family Racing sprinter at Placerville Speedway and with Civil War next year, Moore will also be aboard his family’s No. 22 sprint car in the Feather Falls Casino Friday Night 410 Series at Silver Dollar Speedway, unless another opportunity comes up. The 17 year-old finished third in the weekly 410 standings this year at the quarter-mile bullring and picked up the first two victories of his sprint car career, which included the inaugural $3,000 to win Bill Brownell Memorial.

This weekend will find Moore and the F&F Racing team in competition at the prestigious 17th annual Pacific Sprint Fall Nationals at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. “We’ve had success throughout the years at the Fall Nationals and we’re looking forward to running this weekend with Mason,” Tuccelli stated. “These last few races of the season have really been used as a test & tune for next year because we’re still trying to gel, so it’s been great to be able to qualify well and get top five’s in our first two races together.”

Moore will hit the track in the No. x1 sprinter on Friday for his qualifying night looking to gain as many points as possible towards Saturday’s starting line-ups. “Primetime” had a strong run at the Fall Nationals last season coming through the C & B mains on Saturday night to charge up to 11th in the 40 lap main event after starting 24th.
