Hi All,

I have been a sprint car fan ever since I sat in Wolfe's car at the age of 5 (Knoxville 89'). Unfortunately I took a turn away from 4 open wheels to 2 in the form of motocross, I raced from age 9 until I was 18 and joined the Air Force. I now however have reached a point in my life where have the room and can afford err... am capible of throwing money away on a sprint car. I would like to get a better understanding on the set up of a car and the maintence that goes along with it. Having only about 30 laps in a 600cc mini-sprint, there are many things I have to learn about a full-bore sprint car operation. I guess what i was wondering is if there was any one out there in th OKC area that was in need of a "team member", I have a stong mechanical background as my grand father owned a crane/trucking company and I grew up washing parts, only god understands the hatred I had for that parts washer, and rebulding engines with my family. I will pay my own way and am in no way looking for anything but a little education before I am experimenting with my own money.

Thank You,

Oh and to stick with the previous threads

Feel free to come down and check out what we do. We can always use help, and dad's a pretty good teacher. We're running Lawton Saturday and OKC next week.

Wait, we can't pick on people anymore? I didn't get that memo! So I can't say that David Jones likes hotdogs anymore? or that Boutwell's mini stock is slow? Not even that Tony Bond CAN believe it's not butter?

Great to have another person interested in getting involved and willing to learn. Bruce will be a good teacher for you.

Here's your first lesson. Races are won in the shop the week and months before any actual racing is done. I think most will agree with that. Just something to keep in mind on your journey to knowledge. Good luck.

Does that mean that Lawton is running Supers on Saturday? They don't have any thing on their web site about running the Supers.

Actually I give it up to this guy for wanting to get into it the right way. Skeesiks is right, most races are won at the shop. There is alot of knowledge and championships in the Jennings pit and that would be a great way to learn. Just don't let Brandon show you how to build motors.lol

Thankfully my shop is only about 50' from my house, and I have plenty of free time.

Oh and if I understand the other posts right Lawton is racing friday and saturday.

Cheese are you all planning on going both nights, if so do you mind if I hang around on friday as well?

What part of town do you live in? If southwest or Yukon or Mustang, give me a call 503-0593. We can teach you how thick your skin is, if nothing else.

I'll be there both nights (I think Dan is racing Friday night). But yeah, we're just racing Saturday. Come down to Dan's trailer (Goodyear #61) Friday night if you want to hang out. I'll be there about the time the races start.
