Why are some teams going away from the hood scoops that were once all the rage?

throttle trouble and too much dirt/damage ect, on $500 + air intake systems, JMO they look cool. but just not worth the risk,

The original intent was to get cool unobstructed air to the injectors and to increase horsepower...

Actually the scoops are still there. They were moved to manage the air flow better. The air to the injectors now comes from under the nose peice and is directed over the radiator to the engine compartment.

there is a few different versions of hoods out there today, if you look closely to some of the styles the scoop still remaines, just not in a aggressive type location
