I'd rather see video of the awesome midget race the next night. Why the obsession with watching people destroy equipment and getting hurt?

SPEED had footage of the Meyers/Dollansky crash on the SPEED Report last Sunday so somebody was there shooting - dunno who. They also had highlight footage of the Four Crown races - my *guess* would be Dean Mills was there since it was a USAC show. Dean usually posts highlights from races he covers here with a link to his site millsvideoproductions.com - don't see anything up from there yet though.

If you have an iTunes account, you can go to the Speed video podcasts and download the "Dirt Racing" segments (it's about 4 minutes long). There's highlights of Eldora, including the Meyers & Dollansky wreck. Jason was lucky to walk away unharmed.

I was at the race and if you appreciate the risk these guys put themselves in every time they race, you don't want to see this wreck. The crowd went dead silent and like the post above me, it took a long time to cut him out of the car.

Byron Reed did a nasty header into the front stretch wall just coming out of 4 a few yrs back & so did Hillenburg in turn 4 while having a transfer in the B-Main. They could'nt ask reed nothing as he was out & I knew they were asking Andy the three questions, you could tell he was dazed.

The same reason people slow down at an accident scene on the street. Morbid curiosity is the term I believe.
I am lucky enough to work at one of the best tracks
anywhere.

I saw it on Speed Report last Sunday. I wish I hadn't seen it. It was a worse wreck than the one Dave Bradway was killed in at Skagit that I witnessed. I can't believe Craig is still with us, it is really awful to see someone you know and think of as family take that vicious crash hit. It makes me sick and I can still see it in my mind's eye. As I said, I wish I hadn't seen and am having a hard time understanding why anyone would want to see a human being go through that.

I look at it this way, as a driver I like to know exactly what happened (sure nobody likes to see another driver get hurt)sometimes throught discussion with parties involved you'll find what parts of your safety needs a upgrade or attention , Its best to put yourself in equipment you can afford, (or better yet) in equipment that is avalible today and now! Often easily overlooked, is the reality of "am I safe ? " ones trust in his or hers equipment takes the distraction out of being fast, Some of the Outlaws personal safety risks are questionable in my mind , a driver has to put himself under a little discomfort ,but the guains might make all the differance for your future,
on the flip side, all precautions and latest gizmoes could be utilized and your still not 100% sure you'll excape unscratched, my thoery is "protect your own ass, In these cars its not a matter of "IF" I wreck, its only a matter of when!" prepare yourself for the worst.
Glad everbody is "OK" for the most part, because, the outcome, could have been worse. DirtDevil

By the time they showed the video, they knew Dollansky was going to recover.
In this day and age, if you DON'T show the video, then the internet fills up with gory rumors making the wreck sound 10 times worse than it was.
It's better that everybody sees it.
Fatal accidents have shown in the past too, up to a certain point, just enough to show the gist of what happened. For the same reason. Rumor control.
