Ronnie Brotherton; OKC 1971. Gotta just love these old time ads.

Ronnie was rookie of the year 1962 & OKC modified champ in 1968. Got to know Ronnie a little the years his brother David drove for us. Kinda quiet, but just a neat guy. We lost Ronnie several years ago.

Not exactly sure, maybe David knows, but I believe this was a CAE car that later Stan Schoenburg drove?

Great picture of Shane passing Vogler. I can just see the whole grandstand erupting at once. I was the corner worker in turn # 3 when the Vogler/Johnson deal happened, got a great big long story on that one with some pictures! Get to that another day, Jim

Jim, Just walked in the door from TMS man I'm beat but wanted to see what you guys been talking about since I've been gone all week.

This is the car that Stan drove and Benny finished I believe '73 or '74 in, he had crashed the Jelly/Parsons body car and they used this car to finish season with.

Ronnie was a great guy and a good racer, used to be bad fast in that #501 car on the quarter mile.

The Vogler pic with Shane is one of my favorites, I wish I could come up with some pic's of '85 when we won Hutch Nationals, that is my all time favorite win!!!!

Catch up to you guys tomorrow I'm going into my office and go to bed!!!!!

This is the Ford powered car Howerton drove at the 84' USAC/NCRA race. God I miss those races.

Just thinkin: Danny Wood did a great job in the # 94 this weekend, a pair of 2nd place finishes. That guy is just so smooth, hoping this deal goes full time for him.

Wayne also did well in the 77X car, should have got the hard charger deal for passing 10 cars, whats up with that? Get some good rest David, bet you guys worked your butts off in Texas. Season is almost over, start making plans to get together for a good BS session. More later, Jim.

PS - Still looking for stuff from Hutch, I'm sure I got something around here somewhere!

This not a group of supers, It's the Hoosier 100 in the mid 70's. But it is very much like those hot summer days where the track is dry, tires are worn, and the best of the best are just hanging in there.

Thank you for the clarification! I knew Jim Hysaw for only a few years, but I REALLY WISHED I KNEW THIS!! I had no idea.

The Hank Malone car-The saga of this car is apparently not over. Yes, I know the rumor of what happened to it. But there is a decent chance this car still exists. The body does, and I'm sure you know who has it. Just found that out tonite. Cannot say more, in hopes of getting the right people together so that this car can be out there in the sun once more. It is a relevant car when it comes to history in this thing of ours. It is a quiet legend from the Lawton area, a proven winner for it's time.

When it was the no. 6, and AJ Little was driving, they showed up at OkC one Friday and had a clean sweep against the best of that decade. No charity here since the competition was Leep, Hahn, Taylor etc. Sorry about mistating the Gregory name, I am not good with names.

Sad part is, I had a chance to get this car for a few hundred dollars 20 years ago! If I EVER get to go back in time aboard a time warp machine, I'm going to have a sitdown talk with myself about stocks, love(I'd still end up single, but a heads up wouldn't hurt) and "all those old obsolete race cars laying in the back of peoples yards"!

Wow really cool stuff on here, i remember some of it, if im thinking about the same car you are talking about on here, didnt the flying fuzz have this car?

A racing legend

This is a pic. of DE's ROHO #16 car notice the 9" Ford rearend, also in your shots is Dale Case beating Les Lusk at the old drag strip I was maybe 10-12yrs old, also at this race was a brat ass kinky haired Shane Carson, Jim was also probably at this race along with Laden's, Maddens, Flatts, and many more of us punk kids!! Great shot of Ferguson in Bishop's car so Donnie & Mike were probably there to. Lusk used to run Dodges 273's stroked up to 300".

Yeah I remember several times the super guys swapped gears & went drag racing! Back then the first drag strip was at the fairgrounds, where the south parking lot is now, kinda ran parrallel to the RR tracks. OKC dragstrip was I-40 & council. When they opened Willowrun at I-40 & Choctaw that was big time! When not racing the supers my dad did a lot of drag racing with Royce Freeman.

Guess who came in the shop today? Mike Allison. man he looks great! Says he has not even been to the speedway since he quit driving, now he's doin tri-athalons & marathons & stuff.

Also speaking of Les Lusk, here's one from 1971. Always enjoyed watching Les in that maroon # 44.Look forward to hearing from you guys, Jim

Brian , Doug Joyner nickname was the "Flying Fuzz" and yep that is Jerry Bruner aka "Superman"

Jerry, seen Dale S. at Lawton Winter Nat., said you were still racing the RC cars.

Not into the RC cars anymore, i got my lil girl a go kart and were goin to start racing it next year, Brian, i think Joyner had that car that AJ drove in the early 70's with the short top, then he had the car AJ drove after that, might have been a walker car, the one he won the 40 lap feature with (that ive heard about a million times).

The #44 car on the outside pole is Dick Bloom from Wichita,Ks. It is the Puis Selenke #43 car after it was sold, this is the car I restored for Puis. There is a interesting story on finding this car, it won the 1965 B.C.R.A. points title with Grady Wade. Harold Leep won the last feature this car won in Belleville. Ks. There is a picture of this car on this web site with Grady in it at Knoxville, Ia. Vintage Show. The picture is probably in 1968 I.M.C.A. fair date. The blue & white car in the rear I believe is Roy Bryant in Red Forshee's car.

That car was a #161(Wayne Cox), then #6(AJ Little), then #10(AJ Little, owner and driver). The car was built ,I was thinking(from what I've heard, that I remember), by Hank Malone, engines by Gregory. This is the car rumored for years to have been stolen. There is a reasonable yet interesting story behind that.

The 40 lap feature winner car was a Jelly, also owned by AJ Lttle. It was possibly put aside by AJ to drive for Clinton Herring and the #5(formerly the Dale Parson #67). Not sure on that one. The Jelly car is either in Texas or Kansas now.

Brian some guy came from Kansas earlier this yr and bought some stuff from Joyner and i think he got an old car from him, he also bought some stuff from my dad.
