My family has been racing at OKC since I was born up until a couple years back. I can remember all the best races of Steve Smith, all the Jenning's, Stan "The Man" Constan( sorry if I misspelled that), and my favorite as a boy, Joe Wood. Those were the best races I have ever seen. The 3/8 track is ok, but if you wanted to see some real racing, put Joe Wood in a Sprint car and let him run around that 1/2 mile. Those were the glory days and I miss them.

Your obviously pretty young. That's a great list of drivers. You left out a whole bunch of others. Still that follow the leader stuff don't appeal to me. I love seeing em go side by side and actually racing guys in front as well as the ones coming up from behind them. Besides, it has been argued that equipment failures are fewer and much less costly if you mess up on the 3/8 due lower speeds of course. The high speed is neet, don't get me wrong. Everyone wants to go faster no matter what they race but from the grandstands I think the racing is better on the 3/8. See you there.

The 1/2 was fun, especially running a late model. Man those were fun days!!! Still have some good pics of my L/M from back in '86 when Bud Carson put on some shows on Sunday afternoon's.

I don't mind the 3/8 track, but would like to see something on the half now and then.

Will not happen as long as long as the little fat man is in charge, in fact they are scraping more dirt off the 1/2 and putting it on the 3/8 for the upcoming season , as that is what I heard.

Plus, with the light poles moved now, I am guessing the 1/2 mile would be pretty dark.

I would think to that the insurance company would like a better guard rail too and well that would be a pretty good investment in time and money to make it right and that would probably be just the start to what else would need to be done to get it back up and don't see that happening anytime soon.
