VICTORVILLE 9/27 --- 360/410 Sprint Cars

I just checked the schedules and there are no VRA race, or Bandit or Grand Slam race on that date.

I will be happy to add another $100.00 to the highast finishing visiting 360 that night. I would like to challenge all you loyal sprint car fans, drivers, and owners to match my donation or any other donation you would like to do! Lets have some fun and get this up and running. Is there anybody out there up for it? Lets go! It isn't very much money alone, but if we get a few more, we might be able to get some racers attention, and get a really good car count and put on a good show. It dosen't take a bunch from any one person, but a little bit from a bunch of people could go a long way! Any help will be appriciated!

Ziggy, you fine folks at Victorville are doing a great job and are representing your selfs very well. People are taking note of the great job being done there by everyone and the happy racers that have great things to say about the races and people there.

The fine folks at Kings Speedway are hosting a big two day race-the Tachi Open Invitational. Information is on the Kings website. You are correct as the Bandit Series it is not racing that night. The Tachi Open is not a "Bandit" race- it is a Kings Speedway event with winged 410's, 360's and Bandit-type cars along with a IMCA Modified race and Midgets.

Hopefully promoters can work some more magic like the Naylor and Swindell did a few years ago in doing the Grand Slam deal.

Pete;

Thanks for the kind words. I'm sorry I did not know about the race at Kings. I didn't see it on any schedules. Is it a non wing event?

I don't have any thing to do with promoting Victorville Raceway or any other venue, I'm just a lowly ol' car owner that loves the sport and likes to have a good time racing. And the more competition we have, the more fun it is. They're not doing a lot of promoting at the track, so I thought I would get my big wind bag going to stir up a little interest.

I hope you guys have a good race! I really liked racing at Hanford when we raced there a few times a couple years back. It's just a really long haul from ElCajon. We're right here at the Mexico border(about an eight hour drive) and now that we're running a 410, we can't come up there and play. I'm sure you'll have a great time. Good luck.

Ziggy

Maybe the Bandit series can schedule a couple races next year for Victorville. It is a very nice track. And while I am thinking of it maybe USAC/CRA could schedule two or three shows there. Combined with the Faas/Gardner open shows and the tracks regular sprint car schedule it could be a banner year for Victorville. I have been twice (open comp) and enjoyed the atmosphere. Keep working hard Ziggy - you have gained quite a bit of respect here. Smile

What would really be cool, is if we could get something going like a 3 day race, 1st day we race at Santa Maria, 2nd day could be at ventura, and the 3rd day we could End it at VictorVille.... heck make it a 4 day race and end at Perris... LOL... Now That Would Be Fun..!!! How Impossible Do You Think It Would Be???

Tom ,if were going to banter ideas around ,I got one.One more Faas /Gardner class Sprint Car race at Victorville...the Friday after thanksgiving...alot of fans are off that day ..so I think a Fri. night race could work...keep in mind Perris is running Sat.,I feel just to take away Victorville's thunder at their Turkey Classic. You know how good Victorville's track is now ,so with a purse that would draw 40/50 sprinters, well thats all we'd talk about all winter....Faas/ Gardner are the only people I know that could pull it off starting at this late date, but think about it ,none of the USAC crap and all the exciting racing as their previous events.....paid at the back gate as you leave .cash in hand if you choose to race Perris Sat....win-win for all involved.......if Cary,Jack and Gibson got together one more time....Possible?????

Dan, I love the events Faas / Gardner / Gibson put on...... I know in the future there will be another one.... I just wish it would happen SOONER than later.... how about the sunday after the nationals.. That might be a GREAT time to throw one... talk about car counts... Plus with the 30% drop in the purse at perris, It might intice some people that were debating on going / or not

I'm not critisizing your ideas or trying to say mine aren't flawed.I think possibly, after a 3 day event, the fans might be worn out ,since mondays 'back to work'.I don't think turkey day would work cause of irwindale,Friday?,Sat. perris usac points race....the ovals ,to most teams is prestigeous, but a budget buster, three hard nights..I'm not sure how many would have one more night in them...just my thoughts...and yes the Faas /Gardner races were great...

Ziggy, the grass roots promotion and word of mouth by entusiastic supporters is the best testimony to what's going on. From that point of view you do promote your track like any individual racer or team member does or doesn't do. I spoke with John Aden briefly a few weeks ago, and what a nice guy he seemed to be, along Bill Perkins and Kenny who came up to Hanford to race. Great people and thaey represent well.

Like I said, it is not a Bandit race but the 360 non-wing class is a portion of their program to go along with winged 410's and 360's midgets and modifieds.

I look forward to heading to Victorville to take in a show.

Pete

Hey Pete, how about talking to the powers-that-be in the Bandit series and schedule a couple of races with the promoter @ Victorville for next year? Good idea? It would expand the Bandits base and maybe a couple more race teams.

Good idea Tripcrwn, but ,just being devils advocate .First the Bandits home track is Hanford ,about 230 mi. from Victorville, with out a substantial purse ,I dought many Bandit regulars would make the trip.If your depending on the Victorville regulars to fill the field ,at this point in time 50%of the regulars are running 410's.If the scheduling did'nt conflict with VRA perhap some of those guys would show up ,but again The purse would have to be equal to a Grand Slam race.I don't see Victorville paying that......follow the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ or in this case the lack of it...forget how great the Fass/Gardner shows were ,the regular Victorville show has 10/12 cars .@$350 to win ,finish out of the top five ,less than $50.....2years and no effort to find a series sponser

keep in mind Perris is running Sat.,I feel just to take away Victorville's thunder at their Turkey Classic. You know how good Victorville's track is now

Keep in mind that Perris had a Turkey Classic about 10 years ago and the pressure has been on them ever since to have another race that weekend. To say Perris would book a date just to take away the thunder of another race track does not show much thought or insight. Again, I suggest, if you insist on posting on this board under the pretense of wanting to make things better for the fans and sport in general, try something positive, the mention of 10-12 cars at Victorvile with no effort to get a series sponsor etc. just doesn't seem to fall into that catagory. From what I hear, the V V track has been working their butts off and deserve a little more than a cheap shot at their efforts. Word has it there will be 2 new car/driver combinations at Perris tonight along with 1 or 2 teams that run on a limited schedule, could be another great night of racing.

you want to criticise me for an opinion I have based upon facts as I know them...Perris buckled from the relentless 10 years of pressure and set the sat. race date in the middle of Victorvilles Turkey Classic event ....had nothing to do with the fact Victorville had over 210 cars at their event last year. The difference between you and I ,Burgieman,is the I don't have to preface my statements with'From what I hear' as you do ,you see I 've been to Victorville, raced at Victorville and attempted to help promote the place. When I state the car count,I counted the cars, when I say the track sucks it's because I was there..when I say the track was great,my opinion cause I was there..and when I say their not letting the hard core racing fans even know what classes are running on a given night ,it's because nothing was posted before the race and fans complained after.....last week ,with only 12 sprint cars ,we put on a passable race.good track some passing & every body kept their heads and we did thirty straight[no yellows].follow that with a great lightning sprint main ,the dwarfs were there and sport compacts....you could have unloaded a 12 gauge shotgun into the grandstands with no fear of injuring anyone, again that statement is based upon me looking at the grandstands ....not someone telling me ....but you knew that cause..now what seat did your butt occupy at Victorville Mr. Hard core racefan....you could put me in my place..put up $30k,call it the Burgieman classic, you'd be a hero...
