Saw today where Vise-Grip is getting rid of over 600 workers in I believe Minn. The tools these 600 people made are now going to be made in China. This is the crap that is killing our country, and it's having a snowball effect. Hard to sell a pair of your pliers when there is a pair next to them for 1/3 of the price. How much of our goods do you reckon are on Chinease shelves?

I would think those chinese made vise-grips might work pretty well on a XXX chassis. Not to mention the other chinese made bits and pieces on the car. I bet when our economy is completely tanked and there are virtually no manufacturing jobs left in America, the chinese could try there hand at sprint cars over there... Dollar by dollar we are selling this country out and starts at the top. This is what pisses me off more than anything.
Cheers!

I used to wonder what reason a politition would have for making deals to send jobs overseas, then I figured it out. If you increase the bottom line for big corporations, they will give you money. Allow them to send jobs overseas with no penalty, bigger bottom lines. If you throw in a tax break they will like you even better.

Unfortunately, most people give a lot of lip-service to the off shore manufacturing concept. They complain mightily when a US manufacturer moves his production oversaes, then go out and buy another off-shore product. Wal-Marts, K-Marts, and Targets are successful and profitable over the past twenty year because folks buy things there. Most Americans want the cheapest prices and their products made in America. And most of the products made in America are made by higher priced labor, so they cost more.

So I ask a simple question - Which way do you want it? If its made in the USA, it will likely cost more....and it's quality may be suspect.

We're in a global economy. folks, and the USA is, IMO, no longer a productin economy, but a consumption economy...Whether we like it or not......

They have been made in China for sometime. Just assembled at the Nebraska plant but it does suck.

This is why the people of Alaska like Sarah Palin so much and a good example of morally bankrupt politicians that sell the American people short.

Because they were produced in a territory of the United States, garments traveled tariff-free and quota-free to the profitable U.S. market and were entitled to display the coveted "Made in the USA" label.

Among the manufacturers that had profited from the un-free labor market on the island were Tommy Hilfiger USA, Gap, Calvin Klein and Liz Claiborne.

Yep, I always do and I wont buy it if it isnt an american made shirt. There are quite a few out there by the way. I also refuse to shop at WalMart and Target. Both are filled with chinese made crap. There are actually alot of products we can buy made by Americans, seek them out. I am not a "xenophobe" but I will not willing give my money to a company that chooses to use cheap chinese labor. I would expect sprint car racers to have that same sort of intergrity and not purchase chinese made parts/frames etc.
Cheers!

You better take a quick look at the country of origin of the computer you just typed that post with. If I don't see a reply, I'll assume you did and threw your computer out. You could always call me ... oh wait. You threw your phone out too. Smile

Not to mention most of your sprint car; gloves, shoes, helmets, underwear, rod ends, shocks, each and every bearing, tubing, rear ends, cranks, front hubs, radiators, etc, etc, etc.

Seriously though, if keeping the weekend racer on the track, increasing competition and growing car counts is wrong ... I don't want to be right.

And Henry's watching his Chinese made TV or listening to his chinese made radio, which he stops so he can take a call on his chinese made cell phone....And his personal car has many, many foreign made parts, too - if he's driving an "American" made car.... After drying himself off with his Sri Lankan made towel and before he goes to sleep on his Indian made sheets.

Cheaper labor is a fact of life...most textiles were once made in New England; the plants moved south chasing cheap labor. When labor costs got too high in the south, they moved production offshore....So it's not just because of Wal-Mart and Target and the like. As I said, we're involved in a global economy. whether we like it or not.......

I guess my voice is alone, I just feel that preserving our fundamental cottage industries is a basic goal in society. When you bring in goods that are cheaply made and flood the marketplace, small business and mid size business has NO chance of surviving. The only solution as long as these low quality, low price goods are allowed in is to produce better quality goods (which we already do) and educate the public about the BIG PICTURE in the purchase of these items. That means people have to fully understand the real cost of quality and what it means longterm compared to cheap import junk and the devaluation of our currency. We are losing productivity and that was and IS the only thing providing worth to our currency in the world market. Once we lose all skilled manufacturing jobs we lose our economy. You cant consume without money to buy. Sure you might save now and be able to race your sprint car on a semi-lesser budget but, when the company that is your Boss' competition decides to go oversees and you lose your job due to your boss wanting to save too and follow the competition... your screwed. Thats some money saved eh??.... not.
Cheers!

We would be way better off paying twice as much for products if they were all made here. We are not living in a "Global Economy" in the U.S.,we are living in an Import Economy.

I'm no economist but you guys ever take the time to wonder why the US dollar has dropped against EVERY currency in the world? Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc, etc, all of which rely heavily on imports as well (more so than the US). Maybe its not consumption of foriegn goods (and sprint car parts) but a war that is going on and costing billions, and pathetic US leadership. Theres a thought. If you think buying a front axle or radio made in the USA is going to fix things, time for a serious reality check.
