By Gary Thomas

Chico, CA – August 24, 2008…Completing his second full season of weekly 410 sprint car competition at the Silver Dollar Speedway Princeton’s Mason Moore brought home an eighth place finish in the main event and locked up the third spot in the final Feather Falls Casino point standings.

Last season marked Moore’s first year behind the wheel of a sprint car and it saw him received the Rookie of the Year Award at the Silver Dollar Speedway year-end championship banquet. He and the Rolling Hills Casino, Moore Insurance Services team then came back in ’08 to put together a solid sophomore season of competition at the competitive quarter-mile bullring.

The Feather Falls Casino 410 point season saw 16 races held this year and the driver known as “Primetime” tallied 12 top ten finishes, five top five’s and a pair of A-main wins, including the inaugural Bill Brownell Memorial, which paid $3,000 to win. “We're happy to finish third in points at Chico this year and I just have to thank my team and all our sponsors for making it possible,” the 17 year-old said. “This was a tough year as there was some strong competition on a weekly basis at Silver Dollar and to be able to get a pair of wins was pretty cool as well."

The final 410 sprint car point race of the season saw a strong field of 30 cars on hand and Moore began it by clocking the 14th fastest lap in qualifying aboard the Platinum Powder Coating, NOS Energy Drink, Napa Auto Parts No. 22. He then started from the second row in his heat race and was able to hold off a relentless challenge from Jonathan Allard to score a runner-up finish and transfer into the main event.

The Silver Dollar Speedway surface remained hooked up and fast all night long and Moore lined-up in the sixth row for the final main event of the weekly season. “Primetime” continued his consistent year at the Chico track and after 25 laps of action drove the Selover’s Body & Paint, Withrow Motorsports sprinter to an eighth place finish at the checkered. “Overall it was fun year and it’s pretty cool to finish in the top five of points with drivers like Andy Forsberg, Sean Becker, Kyle Hirst and Jonathan Allard,” Moore said.

On Saturday Moore headed for the Placerville Speedway and brought home a 12th place finish in the main event as the team continues to get the 360 power-plant tuned up for the Wednesday night Gold Cup Invitational that is coming up on September 3. Last season at the annual Civil War Series Invitational in Chico Moore qualified sixth fastest and scored a fine third place finish in the 30 lap main event.

Following the Civil War event on September 3 Moore and the team will be in action at the Silver Dollar bullring as the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series invades the track to kick off the 410 portion of the 55th annual Gold Cup Race of Champions. Last season Moore competed in his first Gold Cup and scored en eighth place finish in the C-main on Saturday night. “Gold Cup is always a fun event and we’re looking forward to running it this year after getting another full season under our belts at the track,” the Princeton driver stated.

The front gate will open at 5pm each night during the 55th annual Gold Cup Race of Champions with Wednesday night’s Civil War event being general admission seating.
